We are among a lot of people DQ'd by NVC and waiting for an interview in Montreal.  If someone couls answer the questions below for us it would help us plan;

- Does the Interview Letter come by email only ?

- What is the next step.  I believe we log onto a website and pick an available interview date.  Is that correct and, if yes, how far out do the interview dates stretch, 4 weeks, 6 weeks ??

- OR, is the interview date specified in the Interview letter (email)

- I see a lot of info re Packet 3 and Packet 4.  Is that still current information ?

Any specifics would be much appreciated.

Unless you have an approved expedited case, you do not schedule your own CR-1 interview.  Once the consulate notifies NVC that they have available dates, they (NVC) will schedule CR-1 interviews beginning at the front of the queue for your consulate.  NVC then will notify you via email with the interview date and time (along with other instructions).

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

This is a highlight reel maintained by Fantastic @DGF for the “CR1/IR1 waiting for Montreal Interview” group chat.

You can find almost everything from DQ to passport return process.

Best of luck!

As a CR1/IR1 the NVC will set your interview date.  Expect a wait of about 6 months or more for your interview date. Just sit tight until then.  They're rebooking the cancelled interviews now, and then there is a large backlog.

- Does the Interview Letter come by email only ? Yes

- What is the next step.  I believe we log onto a website and pick an available interview date.  Is that correct and, if yes, how far out do the interview dates stretch, 4 weeks, 6 weeks ?? Sit back and wait for about 10 months for the NVC to contact you with an interview date

- OR, is the interview date specified in the Interview letter (email) Yep!

- I see a lot of info re Packet 3 and Packet 4.  Is that still current information ? These are for K1 and not relevant to CR1

Any specifics would be much appreciated.

I also recommend checking out the doc that @Jay&Sid linked, but maybe I'm a bit biased because I wrote it ;)

I’m hoping they schedule new CR1 interviews at the reschedule rate.   We’ll find out soon enough.
