Questions about AOS from F1 OPT

Hello All,

I'm finishing up my AOS package and I have a few questions! I came to the US as an F1 student in 2013 and graduated in 2018. I then applied and received my F1 OPT and EAD card and a Social Security number allowing me to work for one year. I got married in 2019 in Maryland.

For the I-765, application for Employment Authorization, do I select yes for the option of receiving a new SS card even though I have one from my previous OPT application?

 

Do I also select "renewal of my permission to accept employment" even though I was issued an EAD card for a different category? Should I instead select "Initial Permission to Select Employment" as my reason for applying?

Social Security number don't expire......If you already have one, you don't need another one.  You are seeking initial employment authorization for this category.

@Lucky Cat Thank you for answering my question! The reason why Im asking about the social security card is because the card I received has a stamp on it that says "Valid for work only with DHS authorization"

That still applies.  You can't legally work until you have an EAD......but the number never expires.
