Public charge rule (I-944) invalidated by the court!!! Here are more details. Those of us who did not submit the I-944 might not have to do that after all.

They need to really just stop going back and forth on it.
Maybe after elections depending who wins it'll be fixed?

If not, they just need to pick a yes or a no. lol

Also. How long does it normally take biometrics letter to show up? If anyone knows.

Seems like as of now I-944 is still a valid form and is being required for Green Card. In the election related news-overload of the last few days, I missed the fact that the scrapping of I-944 (on Nov 2) was stayed by another higher court (on Nov 3). Here is more info. I guess, those of us who did not submit I-944 with our initial packet can now again expect to receive a RFE

I am a member of a Facebook group about marriage based immigration. Saw there that someone posted that they received their I485 RFE potentially related to I-944. Their priority date was 8/25/2020. So I am guessing those of us who did not submit the I-944 will get the RFE in the next month or so. Thought I will share....

Do you guys have health insurance?

My student health insurance expired and my wife and I are looking to purchase a plan on healthcare.gov. It looks like it would cost around 280-300 for both of us per month. Is this a normal average price? Also, am I elegible for premium tax credit if I´m adjusting status?

I pay $600 for a family of 3 for a comprehensive plan, but I believe that is 15% of my healthcare cost and my employer pays the rest. It will be hard for you to get good answers here as it is difficult to compare all the details of one plan vs. the other. For example, my coverage has $7000 annual deductible and anything below that, I pay 15% and insurance pays the rest, and anything above that I pay 0%. My in-network co-pay for doctor's office visit is $20, and most of the Rx prescription is covered. I think $300 for both of you is perhaps a good price for a basic plan. But do not expect too much from that plan if something major come up.

Can you get on your spouses insurance from work? That's what I did.

Has anyone got biometrics yet? What is the timing normally to get this?

Haven't received anything yet. I might be wrong, but I believe since bio-metric will happen at an USCIS local ASC, it will somewhat depend on the case load of the ASC that an application fall under. So it will vary from case to case.

I think @RPete is the only September applicant in this forum who had their biometric notice pretty quickly. @RPete did you have your biometric exam? How did that go?

Yes, I had it quite quickly, ASC: Bakersfield. It was simple and easy. Take your marriage certificate if you’re changing your name, but he still let me complete it. Takes 5 minutes, photo, fingerprints, verifying your form. They had 7 people total in the office for biometrics, and two of those were walk ins. I was there for 30 minutes total.
