I had my interview today!

Overall it went completely fine. Questions were like, how did you meet, who asked who for engagement. Pretty simple questions.

I was asked why I went from a K1 to AOS, but only because he saw it was approved, and was thinking I just didn't get married within the 90 days. Once I told him, things were fine.

I was asked for some pictures, my medical, my I-94, and this years tax return as proof of ongoing marriage since I didn't have a SSN to be put on a lot of things.

Officer said I should get my green card in a few weeks.

Currently status says "interview was completed and case must be reviewed", so we will see how long that takes.

In my quest for mental sanity, I´ve been busy the past 11 days  Googling similar cases to mine where people got a "Your case is being held for review.." letter at the end of their interview. Unfortunately, every post I found was either people getting an approval message later that day or many months after, there was no in between. Having this in mind, every day that has gone by since our interview has been HORRIBLE because even though the interview went great, the approval could easily take months. I woke up today thinking why didn't I ask the officer about this or that or why didn't I take our lawyer to the interview? There's so many things I could've done to not be in this situation right now.

Today around 10AM I get an email from USCIS and I'm thinking oh well it could be that the case status changed from "Interview scheduled" to "Under review" or something like that. When I read it, my eyes go directly to the words "We ordered your new card - Case status: Card/Document Production" (I-485). WOOHOOO!!! :jest: I was borderline about to cry not only because our case was approved but because my brain can finally rest from the anxiety that this process has placed upon it.

Good luck to everyone on their cases and hopefully I'll get the card in my hands soon like @JasonS1!

Congrats! Good to know that it could take that long for that status. I didn't get it as a letter - but as an actual status.
You finally get to chill about this whole thing!

So just checking for updates.

There are 23 of us September filers posting in this thread and most have seen at least some action. Some have even completed the AOS process.

Those of us that haven't even received a biometrics appointment include

Myself, @nendu, @optimusx@Da&Da and @marion2510

Anyone above have any updates they haven't posted or perhaps some guess as to why the 5 of us have been slow balled?

No update for my case. My best guess is my USCIS ASC - Jacksonville, FL is really backlogged and hence no biometric appointment yet. I know of other AOS filers from September who are not on this thread who have not received any biometric appointment from Jacksonville either.

I heard that USCIS has now discontinued H4 EAD extension biometric exam requirement effective May 17. I bet at least some of those cases were in Jax in the queue in front of me. If those cases are removed from the backlog, that might improve the situation some.

RoC Timeline:

  1. 12/04/2023 - Application sent to USCIS Elgin, IL lockbox
  2. 12/07/2023 - Application received by USCIS
  3. 12/12/2023 - Received "Your case received" text message from USCIS. Receiipt # starts with IOE
  4. 12/13/2023 - Check cashed by USCIS
  5. 12/19/2023 - Received in mail the I797 with the receipt number and the online access code
  6. 12/19/2023 - Received in mail the bio-metric re-use notification
  7. 12/21/2023 - Received in mail the I797 NoA extending my green card by 48 months

Up until recently we were in the Portland, OR area but there are 2 timelines filed later (1 in January)  that have had biometrics.

Hey friends,

I am really in a tough situation my father in the ICU and is really struggling back home in Canada.

the thing is about a month ago my i131 updated to appeal approved, I’m not even sure what that appeal is as I haven’t even filled any appeals. I spoke with uscis and they said that my travel document has been approved and I should have notice in the mail by May 6th,  I’ve been waiting for my document and have yet to receive any notice or travel document.

I am so confused I really want to go back home to Canada but I don’t know if I’ll be allowed back to enter the US. My husband and daugther are here I can’t be seperated from them.

What are my options? What can I do?

I really need help

I would check with a live agent and see if they can give you anything on the 131. I would also be concerned about what requirements Canada would have for you to enter including quarantine and all that. Prayers for your father and family.

It really sucks about his situation,  but along with the above advice, I do believe you need that document so you can come back in so it doesn't affect your AOS. It would suck to start all over, and coming back without it, and doing AOS will probably be frowned upon, since you cannot enter with the intent of adjusting.

Also - side note-, Canada has crazy quarantine requirements at the moment. Gotta get tested before you leave, then a mandatory hotel quarantine for 3 days, then tested after those 3 days, then 10 more days at some place where you aren't putting others at risk. And they do check up on you, by either showing up, or phone calls. And then tested again before coming back. It's why I am even waiting to go back to Canada to pick up some of my belongings, its crazy doing all of that.

Hey, I always check this forum because I am a november filer living in Jax also. Can't believe how long it's taking ! Now I'm kind of hoping it will take long enough so we can get a 10 years green card instead of a 2 years one... Just to make up for all this wait !! Anyway, keep updating us and maybe you get some news before the end of May 🤞
