Just a PSA, forthe  I-131 form, the receipt date for case inquiry is now September 14th. I just put in a case inquiry as my PD is before that. I do not know if this will result in anything or not. But I figured there is no harm in putting in a case inquiry.

I assumed it would be a combo card with EAD, so I'm probably going to wait until I get that at some point.

I would wait. If you get your I-693 completed now, and then don't get called for an interview within the next 60 days, the I-693 is invalid.

On the other hand, with pandemic, and USCIS having delays sending out the information about scheduled interviews, you might also run the risk of not having enough time to do everything between the day you are informed about the interview and the actual interview.

Hard question.... I don't think there is one universal correct answer.

RoC Timeline:

  1. 12/04/2023 - Application sent to USCIS Elgin, IL lockbox
  2. 12/07/2023 - Application received by USCIS
  3. 12/12/2023 - Received "Your case received" text message from USCIS. Receiipt # starts with IOE
  4. 12/13/2023 - Check cashed by USCIS
  5. 12/19/2023 - Received in mail the I797 with the receipt number and the online access code
  6. 12/19/2023 - Received in mail the bio-metric re-use notification
  7. 12/21/2023 - Received in mail the I797 NoA extending my green card by 48 months

I don't think this is accurate, if I am not mistaken the 60 day validity only applies if you get your medical done before you submit your AOS application.  If you get it done anytime after your AOS application is submitted it is valid for 2 years from that date.  So unless you have a reason to believe that your interview won't be within the next 2 years I see no harm in getting the I-693 done now at a leisurely pace rather than trying to rush it once the interview is scheduled.  My 2 cents based on my understanding, please verify it by yourself before taking any action. (We submitted my mom's I-693 with the initial packet along with all the forms)

Looks like we're both in Philly! Got my biometrics notice too, it's scheduled for 2/18 (a day after you). I would be so grateful if you could tell me what to expect!! Thank you

Hey, so my husband went alone and said it was really simple. There was a line outside, about 5 people ahead of him, and he waited less than 10 minutes to get in. Once inside he said that it only took like 2 mins ha. He handed them the form, they took his picture and scanned his prints, and that was it! Good luck tomorrow!

9/25/2020 - Application sent to USCIS Chicago lockbox
9/29/2020 - Package delivered

10/21/2020 - Received 4 texts
10/29/2020 - Received 4 NOA's in mail, priority date 9/29/2020

1/29/2021 - Online status changed to RFE (I-944 now irrelevant)

2/2/2021 - Biometrics letter received, appointment 2/17/2021
2/17/2021 - Biometrics & RFE received

3/2/2021 - Case ready to be scheduled for interview

5/27/2021 - Request I-765 expedite via Emma
6/1/2021 - Expedite request received

6/4/2021 - EAD card is being produced

6/8/2021 - Interview has been scheduled!

7/22/2021 - Interview - around 9:50pm that night, new card is being produced!
7/23/2021 - Case is approved. 🥳

I had mine today (not philly, but).

I would just like to add  to the above, to bring your marriage certificate if your main form of ID has a different last name than the last name you put on all the papers.

But really its like a 10min process if its not busy, you go in, wait, show your letter, wait, get your picture taken & fingerprints taken, leave.

thank you. It is a bit confusing, but I decided to go ahead and start the process of booking an appointment. It takes a few weeks to get one anyways, so it doesn't hurt to try now. Appreciate the help! I wasn't expecting the letter this soon, and hopefully I hear about my interview soon as well. Good luck to all. @nendu

No, it’s really informal/casual so just wear whatever you feel comfortable in. The interview is the one that you want to dress a little nicer for.
