Don't immigrants that move here and start working pay taxes for the programs that they are not allowed to us?

If they are tax payers then why are they not allowed to use a program they are paying into?

Seems like a bad system that allows one tax payer to receive a benefit another tax payer legally can't use.

Of course you’re right. It’s like you pay an insurance premium but if an accident happens the insurance company won’t  cover you.

I feel like the better approach would be to stop leechers that are abusing the system than to stop people that need help from getting help.

Just a thought about they would go in full force after shoeless immigrants rather than big tech company likes Amazon which has a record of paying zero tax to the federal makes me sick.

Of course, tons of US citizens are on disability for fake reasons or on unemployment but working under the table... in addition to the healthcare system corruption... but they can only target the weak communities.

Based on your thinking then you'd be fine with "tons of US citizens" AND tons of immigrants on disability for fake reasons. There needs to be a line drawn somewhere. Immigration isn't perfect, nothing in life is perfect but people need to be held accountable. Don't sign a contact if you aren't willing to agree to the terms of it. You have no one to blame but yourself.

May I ask why did you and your spouse decide NOT to immigrate to Lebanon?

This is not relevant because If you’re petitioning someone it’s required that you sponsor them or their application will be denied. If you like it or not you’d have to sign it I don’t know what you find wrong in this.

You are out of your line.

I think you're reading their statement incorrectly. They were responding to my post of "I feel like the better approach would be to stop leechers that are abusing the system than to stop people that need help from getting help."  and he was agreeing with me on who we could get to stop using the system to pay for others that might need it temporarily.

I think that yes you need to prove that you can currently support the partner you bring over. I don't mind providing my income and making sure it's at a sufficient level to support everyone I bring to this country.

That said, if something happens and we both lost our jobs and we need support temperately it'd be nice to be able to use the systems I've been paying into my whole working life.

Why not both move to the immigrant country, is this your favorite sarcasm question? I don’t know whatever the reason is but i guess it’s the same as when you chose USA over HAITI. FAIR!

OP should have quoted you if he was referring to your post. The thing is in your scenario if you are the American, you CAN use public benefits! And if you are the immigrant and paid into the system your whole working life I would have to question why you chose to never become an American. Because if you did... you could get public benefits as well.

Have you seen me mention this one before? Because pretty sure this is the first time. I'm not the one complaining about sponsoring an immigrant in the US am I? So I have to ask the OP why in his situation they chose to not immigrate to Lebanon.  I have no problem supporting my husband. I chose an education and a career and with those 2 things I can "afford" to sponsor him.

We don’t want to go back to Where I came from because this country need us the immigrants. Who kept the US running during the pandemic? Essential workers right? A lot of the nurses, restaurant workers, the people that pick up your trash, transporters, truck drivers... are immigrants. Without them the economy would have collapsed.

That defeats the whole purpose of bringing people in to this county who can self sustain. Who kept the US running during the pandemic? Essential workers right? But they are working. Not collecting public benefits so I'm not sure how this helps your case?

No one in this post has been against immigration... we are on a DIY immigration site after all... but having a system in place that ensures people are compliant with federal laws.. to think there is something wrong with that would lead me to believe you think you were entitled to immigrate to the country...as would be anyone else who just "wants" to come here.
