what form that i need to update?

Is his income alone going to be enough? She passed away, so she has no income anymore. If he's gonna receive any benefits from her, and it's gonna be enough to sponsor you, you update his 864 with the new income.

Hi everyone,

my father in law is our join sponsor and he filed a joined married tax filing with his spouse. however, she just passed away. can he still able to be a join sponsor in this case?

they are retired and in SS. they total in come meet the requirement.

thanks

He has to make enough all by himself without her income. Bring something additional that shows what he earns by himself because the tax return will lump both income together. If he has savings, that can boost if he falls short on his Social Security income.
