Have you seen the letter with the date in the portal yet? Mine was updated to interview scheduled yesterday but as of today I haven't seen the letter in the portal.

Just saw your timeline and it looks like you've been waiting for almost 2 years! ..and here was I thinking my 10 months waiting time was too long!

Was uploaded and able to be seen next day I think

We have had a long wait because of covid but also because it's ND lol … Citizenship is not a priority up here :-S

I understand your frustrations. I also filed late January and got my biometrics done in February before the lockdown. August was my estimated wait time (to get the appointment) but then when the countdown got to "0" it changed to "we are taking longer...". Interestingly though, my Estimated completion date is still September.

Anyway, from what I heard/read the cases automatically go to an officer from far ahead in the process. This would mean that for example if there are 20 new cases for example and two officers on a day, 10 cases go to one and the other 10 go to the other within the same office. If so, that could explain why within the same office people who filed on the same day may not get results on or around the same date. One officer may be slower, may miss a day or two at work... I read that somewhere but can't find it again. That would explain the discrepancy within the same offices. It would mean each officer's next case is the next in the pile he received and not the actual next applicant within the whole office. Plus on top of that I am sure the same officers who review cases before interviews are also sometimes/all the time actually conduct those interviews, so two cases may go to two seperate officers at the exact same time, but one interview may take 10 or 15 minutes longer, or may have issues. That puts that officer 10 minutes behind his colleague in terms of volume of cases. Doesn't seem like much, but imagine 2 or 3 longer cases a day for just one week and that causes a delay on everything else of a week or more from one officer to the other.

Thank you for taking the time to write about it. This makes a lot of sense, I used to work in an office where each one of us receive tons of claims, sometimes I would fall behind and I’d be working on older claims while my colleagues might be ahead of me.. before the claims reached to us the documents would go to a logistic room where it gets scanned and checked and the same would happen there too. I usually never complained about USCIS In my previous applications but it’s been 5 years I haven’t gone home and I my father got seriously ill , he doesn’t want me to come see him because  he knows I have N400 pending so I need to vent sometimes. USCIS in general were nice to me, very thorough though.

That explains it and I'm glad you are finally coming to the end of your dealings with USCIS 🙂. I can't wait to throw out all the paperwork I've accumulated over the years when this is over.

My interview letter showed up this morning - Interview set for October 28. Bummer that I won't be able to register to vote considering it was one of the key reasons why I applied last year.

~AOS : 09/11/2014 - 2 YR Green card received!.

~ROC 07/13/2017 - 10 YR Green card received!.

~N-400 : 10/28/2020 - N400 Interview & Approval/Oath Ceremony/US Citizen!

More Importantly, I am a proud Anti-Fascist!

  • 4 weeks later...

October 2019 filer here, finished my biometrics Nov last year (San Francisco office). When I checked my case, my estimate was suppose to be October but now it says, they are taking longer than expected to process. Keeping a positive thought here, hoping to hear back before end of the month. 🤞
