I agree. I have been watching since the Field offices re-opened, and it looks like offices away from borders or the coast are moving faster. The first I saw was Ft. Smith, AR, then Memphis, Kansas City and Nashville. Now we are seeing Miami, San Antonio, Baltimore and Portland.

Nashville seems to go fast since they've reopened, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope I'll be a citizen before 2020 is over. That'll be the only good thing that happened in 2020, then.

I haven't heard a peep from USCIS since I did my biometrics in January this year (applied in Dec 2019). I am wondering if the San Francisco office is just more overloaded than other places. Although I'm happy to hear others are getting their interviews it's frankly disheartening to hear people who applied in May are already getting their interview in other parts of the country. Feels like being stuck in a dead end.

I don’t think it’s only due to certain offices. I applied in March and other people that applied in June in the same office got interviews. I’m also happy for them of course but I don’t understand how this works anymore.

Have you seen the letter with the date in the portal yet? Mine was updated to interview scheduled yesterday but as of today I haven't seen the letter in the portal.

Just saw your timeline and it looks like you've been waiting for almost 2 years! ..and here was I thinking my 10 months waiting time was too long!

I heard some of the delays could be due to how long it took for your background checks to be completed so filers in the same USCIS office could still have different interview times.

Overall, it seems the west coast is quite slow. As slow as Portland, OR is, it seems California and the Seattle USCIS offices are even worse.

I’m May2020 filer btw. I received an interview notice for September 24 South Carolina (I received the letter a week ago). Also just letting you know that my ROC was completed also and so they did not ask for me to re do biometric.

I understand your frustrations. I also filed late January and got my biometrics done in February before the lockdown. August was my estimated wait time (to get the appointment) but then when the countdown got to "0" it changed to "we are taking longer...". Interestingly though, my Estimated completion date is still September.

Anyway, from what I heard/read the cases automatically go to an officer from far ahead in the process. This would mean that for example if there are 20 new cases for example and two officers on a day, 10 cases go to one and the other 10 go to the other within the same office. If so, that could explain why within the same office people who filed on the same day may not get results on or around the same date. One officer may be slower, may miss a day or two at work... I read that somewhere but can't find it again. That would explain the discrepancy within the same offices. It would mean each officer's next case is the next in the pile he received and not the actual next applicant within the whole office. Plus on top of that I am sure the same officers who review cases before interviews are also sometimes/all the time actually conduct those interviews, so two cases may go to two seperate officers at the exact same time, but one interview may take 10 or 15 minutes longer, or may have issues. That puts that officer 10 minutes behind his colleague in terms of volume of cases. Doesn't seem like much, but imagine 2 or 3 longer cases a day for just one week and that causes a delay on everything else of a week or more from one officer to the other.
