I-864 - do we need a joint sponsor?

Hi everyone,

We are currently working on the AOS package and I have a query regarding the income required on I-864.  My wife is the US citizen and her only income is from a Widows Pension which amounts to approx $14000 per year.  We have a joint sponsor available, however, I purchased the house we are living in about 8 years ago and its worth probably at least $100000, the house is paid, there is no mortgage or loans involved.  My query is, would I be able to use this on the I-864 and if so, would it be enough for us not require a joint sponsor?

Hope this makes sense, any advice or comments welcome.

Thanks

Keith

Joint sponsor would be a safer route than low income and using the house as an asset

I think I saw here that a house wouldn't be considered as assets because if something happens, the house is only worth something after/if you sell it, and that can take time. So they are always looking for money in the bank account.

Get a joint Sponsor.
