N-400 Filing

I have no clue if I’m posting in the right area, but my question has to do with filing the N-400.  My in laws have been legal permanent residents since 2013 and want to become citizens.  They were told they may not be able to because of the new “public charge” rule regarding Medicaid.  They have healthcare through the ACA, not Medicaid.  From everything I’ve read, having health care through the ACA will not affect them.  Is this correct?  Do I need to take my question elsewhere 🙃 thanks in advance!

Correct. ACA is not Medicaid.

If I win the lottery I might petition my parents so I can spend time with them before they die. I’m being sarcastic of course but this is unjust , we were promised that legal immigration is welcomed.

I’ve been reading so many feedback that they made it impossible to petition parents with the new requirements. Do you have different information?

Yeah how about instead of reading the "feedback" and read the actual guidelines. If you want your parents here and they can't support themselves why should US citizens have to support them? It is your responsibility. Tens of thousands of people bring their parents to the USA.

No thanks please keep such advices to yourself we’re here because we truly support each others, my whole life I read reviews and feedbacks and that’s how I learn about a lot of things in life. 
So you’re implying if a US Law obedient citizen and a tax payer parent got cancer they should be left to die? What’s the point of being an American then? But instead my tax money should go to help somebody else?

So you’re implying if a US Law obedient citizen and a tax payer parent got cancer they should be left to die? What’s the point of being an American then? But instead my tax money should go to help somebody else? Not sure where you gathered that information from. But you are more than welcome to fund your parents cancer care in their home country.

Other than the current ban on IR-5 visas (along with many other immigrant visas) until at least 2021, I have not seen significant, meaningful changes in the ability to bring a parent to the US.

DOS visa statistics - prior to the March shutdowns - indicate many IR-5 visas being issued still.

 

There has always been a financial hurdle if they were in or near retirement due to healthcare costs, but people have been able to bring their parents just fine once they addressed financial concerns.

The US healthcare system is out of control. But that's not really an immigration issue. The only immigration-related issue there is that funding their care is challenging. Funding just your own care is challenging.

Take it from me...I accrue around $1 million/year in medical charges now. If I lost coverage, I'd be bankrupt in months (and would have been dead years ago).

Until something is done, this is a consequence of living in the US.

His/her reply to me was not a real advice but more implying that I’m an ignorant. Of course I know That i can read the “the new law” but I’ve read so many people complaining that there is a new application that is almost impossible to pass when petitioning your parents and I trust what people are saying. I also heard that this law is blocked at the moment...

 

The healthcare problem is not caused by legal immigrant parents but by the corrupt healthcare system in general. My wife US citizen got a food poisoning and stayed only 2 hours in ER , her bill was 5000$ while this should barely cost 400$.

 

Im not looking to petition my parents as they prefer to stay home where they enjoy life better... but telling a US citizen that you can’t petition  your parents unless you’re healthy and wealthy is simply wrong, divisive, selfish and non-American.
