in all of this about global warming, i just have to wonder something. those in the northern states, have they really considered what additional regulation and such will add to their heating bills?

eta: just remember when you're shaking like a leaf in a hurricane during the winter that you mighta been all for this stuff.

Gary, what "anti-capitalist elite"? You do realize that's a hilarious impossible group of people that you've been brainwashed to think exist, don't you?

Its the elites that blame big business for everything. They blame big oil for GW, they blame big auto and big industry for outsourcing, big Wallmart for destroying the little guy and small business, big drug for drugs that people can't afford, ect, ect,ect... The lefts response to everything is to regulate, tax and blame. That is anti-capitalist. Without all these business's we wouldn't have the way of life we have today. It seems that they want to destroy the very thing that we have to thank for our way of life.

Gary, there is no canned response to issues this country faces by either those leaning left or right. It doesn't really open it up for real dialogue between differences of opinions if both sides keep labeling the other with such blanket statements. (and I might add...the idea that there are two opposing sides is fallacy that you keep buying into)

Assigning responsibility is a more accurate term than blame. I don't blame the automakers for Global Warming, but I believe that have a responsibility to the environment. We can argue over how much of an environmental responsibility, corporations have, but I'd be very disappointed if you didn't at least agree that they do in fact have some responsibility in not destroying the environment as well as a Government that assigns that responsibility to corporations.

Perhaps I asked the wrong question Specifically WHO are these elites? Name a few - then tell me specifically what power/s they have to effect a massive change on government policy in a manner that equals or exceeds the influence that high-paid corporate lobbyists and corporate campaign donations can bring to bear.

Pick about any Dem congressperson. For example: Hillary Clinton once said in a speech that she wanted to take the profits from "big oil" and use it for alternative fuels. If that isn't anti-capitalist then nothing is.

And you honestly think that the lobbyists only come out to play when the Reps are in charge?

Hillary Clinton is an "anti-capitalist elite" is she? Who is paying for her election campaign I wonder...

Can you site that quote? It's kind of hard to respond to hearsay.

George Soros.

How do you think that guy made his money?

Hint: it wasn't from the socialist revolution...

His economic positions could hardly be called 'anti-capitalist' - anti-corporate maybe. But even so - this guy isn't running key elements of government policy in the way that certain multinational corporations currently are - through the closed-office door of the VP.

Got any other names in the hat BTW?

How do you think that guy made his money?

He "broke the Bank of England" - LOL

He made part of his money in the stock market, moved that money offshore and then pressured dems to increase taxes. Quite hypocritical really.

No, I am getting ready for work. It isn't hard to find out that Hillary's major contributers are big tax, big government, anti-capitalist types. Anyone that does not believe that is just fooling themselves.

Later guys.

In response to a question about "leftist anti-capitalist elites" you pull out Hillary Clinton and a private investor-turned philanthropist. A vast 'anti-capitalist' conspiracy that does not make.

I guarantee you that the vast amount of the power and influence is one side of the table - and it isn't the corporations who are the victims.

I thought he made his money by breaking the Bank of England?

He shorted $10 billion pounds, forcing the Bank of England to devalue the currency.

From the wikipedia page.

Soros is the founder of Soros Fund Management. In 1970 he co-founded the Quantum Fund with Jim Rogers. It returned 3,365% during the next ten years (42.5% per year for 10 years), and created the bulk of the Soros fortune. Rogers "retired" from the fund in 1980.
