Hello Everyone,

London interviews for K1 visas. Are they happening at the moment or not? I am so confused. I noticed that someone on here had a K1 interview in August and was granted their visa. I saw a video from a immigration lawyer in San Diego saying that Embassies will soon start these interviews. Then I hear tales of woe. What do you all know? Is it more sorrow or is it go man go?

Thanks

Andrew

Hi, unfortunately not. The best info you can get is the uk.usembassy.gov website where it explains the k1 situation.

Only if the K-1 applicant is exempt to the UK and Ireland proclamation (i.e. parent of US citizen child, etc.).

That K-1 applicant is parent of US citizen child and thus exempt to UK and Ireland proclamation: https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=338037

The lawyer is referring to the following DOS update:

That update can't override the President's UK and Ireland; Schengen Area; mainland China; Iran; and Brazil proclamations. Thus, consular posts in UK, Ireland, Schengen Area, mainland China, and Brazil can't issue visas to applicants subject to the relevant proclamations: "The Secretary of State shall implement this proclamation as it applies to visas pursuant to such procedures as the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, may establish."

Unfortunately you need to consider the totality of the situation as it relates to your consulate

YMMV

Yeah  I emailed the London embassy after that update and got the below generic response.

Thanks for your reply. Very helpful. They’re not taking it that seriously though are they? This administration are using Covid to advance their anti immigration agenda. I can’t help but see it this way.
