thank you!! that is helpful.. were you able to track the application? was this in 2020?

Yes I applied for the work authorization. Under c31 renewal in the month of September 2020 didn’t get any receipt then in this month of September 2020 last weekΒ Β I applied for c09 combo card renewal and got the receipt still waiting for the work authorization under c 31 renewal receipt but didn’t get any receipt for this form.

I don’t know why USCIS is so messy some timeΒ

I understand why you would want such a guide written but its not a good idea. You dont want to rehearse answers, it's usually very obvious to the listener when someone is doing that vs speaking naturally. It will give a bad impression. The 485 interview should be more of a formality then an interrogation. You should review your copy of the 485 you sent. They most likely will read out loud a few questions from the 485 that you would answer yes or no to. They may ask you questions confirming dates or addresses you entered. So read it over ahead of time and make sure you understand all the questions from part 8, especially if English is not your first language. Refresh your memory about your address and work history. They may make small talk with you about your job or kids. They may ask if you are divorced. They are NOT suppose to ask you about the abuse. Your 360 was approved so a determination was already made that you are a victim of abuse. Some Officers ask inappropriate questions about the abuse anyway. Answer politely and truthfully if they do and keep it brief and they will most likely move on.Β

Β

To mentally prepare remind yourself that you were already approved as a victim of abuse, that this interview is not about showing you were abused. Its about confirming you are eligible to receive a GC. To get a GC you need an approved underlying form. You have that- the 360. So now they just have to go through and make sure there are no reasons why you shouldnt get a GC (inadmissibility reasons). As stillwinning explained inadmissibility reasons are stuff like criminal records, drugs, terrorism. Pretty much all the stuff in part 8 that you said no to. Generally people with inadmissibility issues know they have an issue. They are usually serious and significant things. Part 8 lists out all the general eligibility things and the things that are grounds for inadmissibility. VAWA laws can override some so if you did check yes to something under Part 8 dont panic! its not an automatic denial. So if you do have any yes boxes checked in part 8 you can confirm here with Sandra or other users that it wont be an issue.Β Β If you have no yes boxes checked off then theres no reason for your 485 to be denied and you shouldnt stress yourself about the interview unnecessarily.Β

Thanks for your replyΒ

what I wanted is a general guide for I-485 interview after VAWA approvalΒ

which is like the dress code.

Β

how to relax once you got the interview notice.

Β

what are the parts of the interview Ie oath taking then bio graphic questions then yes no questions

Β

What to do if the officer is asking about the abuse things which are already decided.

how to tackle The question if you have done some work with out authorization of the immigration etc.

Β

how and when you went outΒ Β of status.

If you have some convictions in the past or inadmissibility ground etc how to tackle it.

Β

This will give a general guidelines to all the Β  Members etc who are waiting for their interviews etc.

National Benefits Center basically coordinates the scheduling at local field offices, which is why VSC forwarded the I-485 to NBC. NBC won't do much with it aside send it onward to your local field office for a final decision and possible interview.

Oh I see. Thank you for the clarification. Also in addition, can I send a change of address to National Benefits Center? The notice of transfer was sent to my old address despite me sending change of address twice to them (Vermont). I am worried that the I485 notices later on will be sent again to the old address.

Resume writing only when you've cleared your head and can think clearly..else you might not put it down 100% remember you're aiming to give the officer 110%! You need some peace and quiet when you write..it allows for free flow and recollection..take a break perhaps continue tomorrow and good luck with it!πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Hey guys. My vawa was approved back a few months ago. Today I get a notification saying post decision activity? That my case was approved and an approval notice was mailed? What does this entail? I know it’s pretty direct but why lol

It's not unusual at all..I got that notification too in my time. It's nothing to ponder on..they're just keeping you updated...it's mainly administrative processing done after these cases are approved.πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘
