Hello family, I have a question and Im not sure if this forum is the right one to ask, but here I go.

I was born in Colombia and as a child I was raised in Venezuela. I have both nationalities. Im waiting for my AOS interview, and with my good set of mind Im hoping for a good ending of my VAWA journey and have my green card approved.

As some people know Venezuela doesn't have embassy or consulate in EEUU due tension between both countries, so my passport is expired and no way to apply for a new ( DHS stated that venezuelan passport will extent their vigency by 5 year after expired, but few places know about it and give a hard time with expired passport) , so Im considering to apply for Colombian passport to have at least an other way of identification that is not expired besides my EAD. My question is if I have my green card ( and consider that all my VAWA case was done with venezuelan passport) can I travel with the Colombian passport, or the only passport valid to exit and reenter US is the venezuelan one?

Thank you!

Only rule regarding passport use that US has is that a US Citizen has to enter and exit US using a US passport or a WHTI document (like a passport card, NEXUS, Enhanced Driver's License, etc).

For LPRs and other "aliens" they do not care which passport you enter or exit US using, or use while in US. It is however generally recommended to enter and exit using the same one should issues of inadmissibility come up, though that mostly comes up with non-immigrants since you don't want your exit from US to get lost in the system and later have to argue with the embassy that you didn't overstay. For an LPR that's a non-issue.

Thank you @Demise so in my case will not hurt to request a colombian passport and after my GC arrive I can travel outside of USA with my colombian passport and reenter without problem?... I wasnt sure if with the GC I have to use the passport with I file my case..

Also if you are not familiar with google alerts I strongly advise you to look into it. Google alerts is a feature where you can enter a search term (like someones name) and when a new search result comes up they will email you. So you dont have to google him every day. Google will let you know when theres a new result.

Personally I think google alerts is a blessing and a curse. Ive used it in the past to be able to keep tabs on my abusive ex but at the same time it horrifies me to think they can be doing the same and silently be stalking me. I also have an extended family member who is incredibly nosy. She has set alerts for everyone in the family. A kid makes honor roll or scores some points in the game and its posted on the schools website. She gets a google alert and I get a random passive aggressive message about how well we all are doing and its a shame she has to read about this accomplishment online instead of being told directly! Drives me nuts.

Wow this is more scary to me than a blessing. Nosy people and stalkers will be happy with this. And your family member she is something.

Joint account back statements

Joint Health Insurance

Driver license (mine and the my ex with the same address)

Credit Card Statements (joint) and two affidavits mentioning I traveled to see my wife.

I'll suggest you to revisit  all the evidence you submitted in support of your VAWA petition again. If you find any discrepancy in addresses, try to explain in detail.

Second check your marriage certificate with reference to residence and mailing address.

Hi everyone! Today I received a transfer notice for my daughter's I-485 and I-131 to USCIS Benefits Center in Missouri (she is my derivative). We are both waiting for the i-1485 but hers got an update being transferred. My confusion is why would they transfer her I-485 and I-131 to a state where I am not in. Has anybody have the same experience?

(Just fyi my I360 already got approved).

National Benefits Center basically coordinates the scheduling at local field offices, which is why VSC forwarded the I-485 to NBC. NBC won't do much with it aside send it onward to your local field office for a final decision and possible interview.

More to these Google alerts I’m just curious here. Since divorce records are public unless sealed, does it mean that literally anyone can request an unrelated person’s divorce documents from that circuit court?

You're not far from the truth...here👇👇👇

Many filed divorce documents are public record, but there are times when certain documents should not be accessible to the public. ... In such situations, the court might “seal” the court documents, including the court transcript or any filed documents. A sealed record can only be viewed by obtaining a court order.

Hello ,

I have my flight scheduled for Oct 15 to Nov 2 , 2020 . I will be travelling to my home country Nigeria for the first time since my entry in 2014.   My Combo card is due to expire on 01/01/2021.  Covid 19 was the reason I did not schedule an earlier flight. Is it a risk that I am travelling too close to the expiry date of my Combo card even though I am just going to be away for 18days.? Also , I was out of status in 2015 for about a year in 2015, could this also be a problem for me. I am just nervous and feeling the worst. Its been awhile since I travelled. I really do want to see my family.

Please advise.

Thank you.

As long as you travel within the validity of the document you will be fine. Only deterrents/concerns is if you're in removal proceedings, a pending asylum and criminal charges!💁 if this is not your situation, then being initially out of status is nothing to worry about!👍
