My lawyer never applied for c09 , she only did c31 . I did ask her so many times but all i got that she will get mad at me for telling how to do her job properly.

That fear of speaking up, will cost you brothers and sisters. Find a way of communicating with the lawyer. You can put it in a question form. Like, "so, we will send this to Vermont?" Or send a reference from USCIS website. They can't argue with that.

My 485 was sent to Texas, lol. Now I can laugh about it, but at the time 2018 Mar, I was devastated beyond words. I retreated, lost hope, didn't talk to my lawyer until now. I refilled and asked him to send it to Vermont, went over the packet myself. Used the same lawyer though. Starting with a new one would be expensive.

Please don't be afraid to speak up. VAWA has a different set rules. If your lawyer doesn't do their research, they will mess things up for you.

Make sure you get the latest i-765 from (version should be 10/02/2020) , also you need to send copies of initial I-485 payment receipt or fee waiver. if you don't fall into these to you might have to send the payment. check everything and read the i-765 instructions doc.

Thank you, will do. Yes, I will submit copies of my I-485 application, EAD card and receipt notice as evidence. I recall paying the filing fee for each I-765 extension I did. I really appreciate you taking the time to give me 1 on 1 feedback. Have a wonderful day.

I appreciate you! 💐

Hi everyone I recently got my vawa approved but I’m in removal proceedings . I know I adjust in front a judge but is it going to be at the first court date to let them know I’m approved ( been there about twice for master hearing ) or are they gonna schedule me for an individual hearing for the adjusting of status . What should I expect and will he be asking about vawa or just green card questions @sandranj

Hi @sandranj or @Stillwinning!!!😊 can someone please assist me

Hey I'm not very conversant with how that works..but I've read a few cases here..I'll assume that since the vawa has already been adjudicated, the focus will be on the i485. It's a good thing your vawa is approved..it's not in my character to say what I'm uncertain of..Sandra should be able to give you the legalities you seek. Once again congrats.👍

you still can apply i-765(c9) but for this to go through you need to find out if you lawyer filed your i-485 with your i-360. You might get your (c31) EAD before the (c9) approval but keep in mind (c31) EAD you have to pay or send a fee waiver in order for it to process.

Yeah she did apply for i485 cuz i got receipt from USCIS . But she never wanted to do i765 under c09 category. I applied in August 2019 more than a year already. Was just too confused that should i now just wait only for c31 to be approved cuz i m already in 15 months

Hello, can anyone recommend some experienced vawa lawyers? We have our i360 filed in September 2019. But we are just not satisfied with our attorney’s service due to poor communication from his end.

I would go with the resident attorney sandra here. Her username is @sandranj

Sandra does not usually accept cases that were previously filed by another attorney. You can reach out to her but you should also explore other options while you wait for her response .

You can use Google to search for local vawa attnys. You can also contact your local bar association for referrals.  Most have a website where you can search, some you do have to call for a referral.  You will have more options if you are looking to hire (pay) then if you are looking for pro bono or reduced fee representation.

If you need pro bono or reduced fee you can contact Catholic Charities or search for immigration assistance groups in addition to the methods above.

Dany

Yes, I’m also curious to know the answer.

How long does it usually take to get the receipt notice for the renewal of EAD/I-765  application at this time?

If you're asking when you will get receipt notice..usually anywhere from 2-6weeks..some people have even reported longer times..also for it to be processed, you're looking at 4-8months...no definite time..just estimates!👍 @namastenyc take note!
