Hey @Stillwinning!!!😊 can you tell me how do I get in touch with my Congress man or senate. I got a letter stating they can’t move on without my medical since may and I have got ntn since then. I don’t know if I should re-apply for another work permit before it expires in December plus i need help to know why it’s taking so long for an interview?Β

Hey Gi Gi been a while...anyway you should send in the medicals then...why haven't you sent it in though?..they probably plan to approve you without an interview. Sure sounds and looks like it. Google your congressman..call or email..they will send you the privacy release form..fill it out and attach your i485 NOA..they will reach out to USCIS and bring you answers!πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Hi everyone! I’m hoping to file my petition this weekend. I went to my lawyers office yesterday to review the file and they completely messed it up. They included duplicate pages, outdated forms, even managed to mess up I-360!! They incorrectly filled it out and I had to catch so many errors. The lawyer doesn’t review the file, only the paralegal, who it terrible. All this time I only had 1 hour call with the lawyer and she doesn’t respond to my emails. They also included black and white pictures of my injured leg...which is the whole point to see colorsΒ of the bruises. They told me if I want colored I should printΒ it outΒ myself. My legΒ looks completely normal on the picture they printed out.Β I am going back to their office today to re-review the package. Do you recommend to get rid of G-28 form and just file on my own? What are the advantages/disadvantages of having a lawyer? Did anyone have a similar situation and what did you do?Β

If they are not competent..then I don't see the point!πŸ’ sometimes you're better off on your own..a lot of attorneys do not have VAWA experience..they just want the extra money. You can do a better job yourself with the guidance from this awesome community! So many filed themselves and emerged victorious! It's looking real messy with these clowns already..I do not recommend!πŸ‘Ž

If they are that incompetent in the beginning, imagine the whole process? Better change your lawyers now or do it yourself. Good luck and always stay safe. God bless alwaysπŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Hello vjf, I just had a request for 2nd request for evidence. I don't know what to do and am perturbed.

first one was 1. good morals...i sent police report and letter from friends

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β 2. evidence of abuse...i submitted counsellor report

Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β  Β 3. evidence of good faith marriage...which my family and friends wrote that they know about my marriage.

Β

Now, I don't know what they want. Please what can I do ?

Β

Β

Β

Has anyone recieved a 2nd RFE

HelloΒ @Precious100

Β

Here are ideas that may help you come up with more evidence:

Β

1. Good morals:Β

letter from friends of yours whoΒ have a lot of great things to say a bout you

letter from your church pastor if you attend one, describing how you have become important part of the community

letter rom your neighbor relating an episode where you were truly helpfulΒ

letter from your employer describing why you are an important part of the company naming specific skills of yours

Are you part of a volunteer group? show them your membership card

police clearance letters from you and your parents from your country

police clearance letters from from the US

letter from your landlord attesting how punctual you are with rent

(letters must be well written)

Β

2. Evidence of abuse:

photographic evidence of physical abuse

photographic evidence of health issues you had, especially during and immediately following to the abusive times:Β anxiety, nails biting;Β hair loss; overweight; head aches; weight loss;Β

photographic evidence of pills taken by your abuser (if any)

letters from close friends describing rare episodes or changes on your behavior during such times

letter from landlord reporting any episode they or any of your neighbors suspect had to do with an abusive situation

letter from your boss/coworkers describing if they noticed you missed days at work or you became distracted, irritable

(photos: in case they ask for originals, be aware that the photo hasΒ metadata information on when the photo was actually taken)

Β

3. Good faith marriage:

did you own something together? a property? a car? show proof of shared ownership

do you have clothes or personal elements from your ex? take photos

did you spend time with her/his family? those photos

did you guys go of trips together and took photos? those help

did you attend an event together? did you both buy tickets? those help

photo of your wedding ring

did you get a bank account together? certificate or screen shot from online bank showing so

bills underΒ both names?

did you drive the same car?Β insurance card showing both names on it

(anything that implies that you were together helps)

Β

If you don't have any of these (any), or just not as much as you should, write a letter explaining why you don't have them. Remember that you are trying to proof all three things and it is up to you to provide them with the evidence. The more the merrier for your caseΒ :)

Β

Good luck.

I need to act really quick because my interview status has been changed to scheduled on Sept. 8th. I don’t have a letter since I think it went to our old address. How do I find out the date? Do I call them? Also, should I go on my own? Do I need to file VAWA asap?Β
Thanks!!

Also, what are the repercussions of using a lawyer? Like are they the only ones who can receive documents now or what could be a problem?Β

Usually if you are using a lawyer they are responsible for filing your case properly and insuring that the process move smoothly with no errors and now worries. But from my personal experience and what I see here in this forum, there are a lot of lawyers that are taking advantage of VAWA petitioners and a big majority of them are incompetent or unresponsive. Then again is entirely up to you if you wanna have a lawyer or not but my advice is do your research before you hire one. One thing is for sure @sandranjΒ is knowledgeable and an outstanding lawyer and an amazing person that actually cares about people so I can def recommend her but you it is up to you what do you wanna do.Β

No repercussions whatsoever only if you're using an attorney that knows about VAWA. If you read my response to you clearly..I said so many people approved filed themselves! I only recommend a rep for extremely complex cases..there's no problem if you file for yourself...if you have spare change to throw around then you can use the guidance of one who is familiar with the petition..not charlatans!πŸ’

Try the catholic charities in your area they are pro-bono or sliding door.. I had a great experience with the one in louisville Ky but not all Catholic charities are equal.. the one here in Newport news Virginia aren't so welcoming.Β

Good day everyone.. so I finally got the letter from USCIS and it simply said my interview was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.. today I received a letter from USCIS again this time it was from a office in the state I now reside in.. and they scheduled an interview for both myself and my daughter.. she wasn't in my initial filing because she was back in our home country with her father. He sent her back to me back in July of 2018 and I filed her i485 in January of this year. And 2 months ago her ead and advance parole was approved.. I guess they cancelled it in KY to transfer it here in VA to include her and as well as having it done in the state I'm in .. our interview is scheduled for october 21 .. I'm so relieved.. it wasn't at all hard to file for her, I included my approved VAWA ..Β  All thank to Sandra.. also thank you all for all of the support and encouragement.. I will keep you posted.. I'll also answer anyone who have any questions about including their children the way I did..Β
