Hey,

Happy Thanksgiving ! My ead  under c31 is about to expire. I filed a renewal already and I received the receipt notice. Is it common for my work place to request for the I-797 notice ? They are now claiming that it is a policy from the office to request  the original of the document. The document on it's on does not guararntee anything so I'm confused. I thought that with the automatic extension I dont have to show anything. Please, HELP!

Yes,  your employer can ask for extension letter to see if you are still legally able to work.

C31 qualifies for automatic 180 days extension if filed before expiration. You are good

Well, the document proves that you've been granted an automatic extension.

Think of it the same way as I-751 receipt notices extending conditional green cards for 18 months. Sure, the status isn't really tied to any physical document, but you need a physical document to prove it.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.

After 24 months , they just sent me prima facie again, is this normal?

Same for me. Plus there is a note that said “we are not expected to make a decision on your case before the end of the 180 days”

so I don’t know if they are really plan to make me wait 30 months for this first step.

As long as they have not reached a decision on your case..they can send you prima facie..I received prima facie a couple of months before my case was approved! So receiving prima facie doesn't mean your case is going to take longer..you might even get an approval next week! Keep been proactive..seek the assistance of your congressperson to enquire what the delay is about..etc. Just know you're closer than before!👍

Hello my dear! Do you remember by any chance if they mentioned something about “we are not expected To make a final decision on your case fore the expiration date of prima facile”? If your received the same note and still get approved after two weeks would give me hope.

Hey Jack, yeah they probably don't want to take any chances so they are not found wanting. Give them the necessary proof as they have requested.👍

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I just have a question for those who has this kind of update, how long after they show this notice online did you receive the actual paper notice of interview? It's been 9 days for me and not sure if that's normal.

Ready to be scheduled for an interview means, they are satisfy with the documents you have  presented, it can be schedule anytime from a week to two years, depending on your state processing time.

Oh wow thanks for the clarification,  I got used to receiving notices shortly after an update online. I hope mine won't take too long.
