Has anyone ever got 2 EAD cards under C09 both valid at the same time?

They sent you two valid ones with identical dates, at the same time or close together?

Or you had a valid one, and they sent a new one with fresher dates?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

They sent a C09 one in July this year valid till next year. Today they updated they are sending a card. Haven’t received the card. Just speculating ahead if it’s possible for them to issue 2 cards under C09 or this new card will be c31

Thank you 😊 I know I know :) I think it’s just a part of wanting to leave everything behind. But as I said...whatever 😄

In all honesty very few people know what the categories mean. Most employers or DMV/bank employees dont even know there are categories. They are just trained to look at it and check the name and expiration date. Try not to worry about it or perhaps reverse your thinking- instead of seeing it as a reminder of something painful consider it a testament as a survivor.

Hello VJ family. Hope all of you are doing well. I have 2 question. I cashed the stimulus check IRS sent and friend of mine told me I am not supposed to cash it since I am not citizen or green card holder. He told me this have bad affect when I go to interview. He said this could also affect my citizenship process even if I get my greencard. Also I have one more question. I have so much debt and I am considering filing a bankruptcy at some point if I can't figure out(please keep you judgment to yourself if you will complain) so what would happened if I file bankruptcy. I have i360 approved. Waiting for interview. Does it matter filing bankruptcy before interview or after interview. Would that affect my possible citizenship application in the future. Regards

Bankruptcy wont have any impact on immigration. On a personal note bankruptcy will follow you for 7 years. If some of the debts involved are for home or auto loans you may never be able to get another home/auto loan or may have a very difficult time doing so in the future. Some banks just choose to not ever lend to anyone who has had a bankruptcy even after the 7rs when it falls off your credit report. There are various agencies that can help you so you dont need to file for bankruptcy. Google for credit counseling agencies or programs. Some are non profit and based out of social services/housing authority offices. Others are private run and can charge minimal fees (75$). They will all discuss your finances in detail with you and give you advice on how to manage the debt you have. Some will even set up with all your creditors that you make one payment you can afford to them as a middle man and they distribute a small portion to each and the creditors stop bothering you as long as you are paying that. There are various types of bankruptcy and debt consolidation programs you should explore which is best- but none of them would impact immigration.

Has anyone ever got 2 EAD cards under C09 both valid at the same time? I know people get C09 and then C31 that could be valid at the same time. I’m just over curious on today’s update. If anyone can help me with this question that will be great

Please remember the cards themselves are not status. Status is not a tangible object, its a concept. The cards are nothing more then proof of the status. For example you can have a physical card that says issued Jan 2020 and expires 2021. But your status is terminated. The card doesnt just disappear into thin air. You can have a card that says its good but its not. Does that all make sense?

So it seems like you filed a joint AOS package with your spouse (130-485-765). You got a c09 EAD based on that. You then filed VAWA and sent 360-485-765. You would then get a c09 EAD based on that. When 360 is approved you will most likely get the c31 issued automatically. When you have filed multiple 485/765s you have to pay attention to not mix the cases up. Each one would have its own case number. If the scenario I described above is correct then the first EAD you got (from the marriage) would no longer be valid (even though the card says it is) because you filed a second 485/765. So the EAD you got from that filing is the one you want to use and renew before it expires. You can also choose to not renew it if you have at that point in time a c31 issued that is valid and can choose to renew the c31 but the c31 renewal you pay for where the c09 you do not. Its not a problem to have both c31 and c09. You shouldnt have 2 valid c09s - one is probably not valid so you just need to figure out which one that is by looking at which one is attached to which filing.

Never heard of that TBH I only know about C9 and C31 as I had both! Just relax you'll know when it arrives! Hopefully pleasant.😊👍

I am not sure but with USCIS you never know. It could be another C09. But I hope

and pray it's not. If it's not then you know what it is! You will know for sure when the mail arrives.

I just got my greencard delivered. Cried a little. It took some years out of my life but I guess it’s time to leave the past in the past and move forward. 😊

Permanent resident card for 10 years. It says category IB6, if you google what that means you are a self petitioner under VAWA. I wish it wasn’t so obvious on my card but I guess whatever :)

I wish everyone lots of patience and good luck. I’m still processing its reality... I’m not an illegal now?... I can go see my family whenever I want? I don’t have to avoid conversations with people worrying what if they ask me this or that? Etc etc

Lots of thanks to everyone who answered my questions here 🙏🎈😊❤️

I don’t know you but I am happy for you and I do agree about this IB6 thing but whatever you won at the end. Congrats

Ugh, I am completely frustrated. I sent the I-360 in over 26 months ago (August 2018). Got RFE'd in February, responded in May, and I'm still waiting. Like honestly the wait is worse than just getting denied after a while since with a denial you can at least do an autopsy and appeal or refile.

I know the frustration, it feels like forever for you to get your approval, thats exactly how i felt, but hang in there its coming hopefully before the end of the year🙏🏽

Hello everyone,

I had my AOS interview 10 days ago, the interview was very smooth nothing out of the normal questions, my lawyer attended with me via phone and said it went well, my I -485 online status changed to - interview was completed and my case must be reviewed - is this a normal update or it means that my case is being scrutinized more? Please help. Thanks you @sandranj or anyone that have any experience with this kind of status.

It's normal to have the case reviewed, they are just taking a second look to see if everything is ok in  your file.
