We are about to submit our paperwork... Adjustment of status based on marriage... Not k1. Came here on tourist, then married. Filing concurrently I130, I485, I131, I765.

The only question I have left is about biometrics.... I thought this was not required yet, but a read a few things lately making me question that. Is it required now? Or do I get a letter request asking for it?

And if it is required now, I assume it's just once not for all three (I485, I131, I764)???

K1 is an arrival status.  An adjustment from k1  is also one based on a marriage to a USC

YMMV

I realize that.. But do you have an answer to my question? Just wanted to distinguish in case there happened to be any differences.

They are the same type of adjustment, therefore biometrics is REQUIRED.

All greencards have biometrics embedded in the card.

The only difference I can think of is that an I-130 is needed in your case.

anytime you apply to USCIS and need interview (or approval without one)

this would be anytime you take an oath with immigration officer

the biometrics will be repeated when you apply for citizenship

all this is a security check to insure the person is who he/she says

and we are waiting to see if the administration adds facial and voice recognition along with DNA to the biometrics as they announced

Biometrics fee ia required across the board, no matter the type of application or immigration benefit. It says so in every instruction packet.

Interesting. As OCD as I am, I'm not sure where I missed that requirement, but I'll definitely have to re-read the form instructions!

I assume you have already visited the i-485 page on USCIS website. All you need to do is scroll down to "filing fee" and read the info. You don't have to be OCD to do that.

That is correct for now.

On or after October 2nd, it'll just be the application filing fees: "Although DHS eliminates the separate biometrics service fee of $85 for many application types in this final rule, it establishes fees for most forms to reflect the estimated full cost of adjudication, including the cost of biometric services that are typically associated with that form. Thus, DHS will continue to recover the cost of providing biometric services, but it will do so by adjusting form fees to reflect the total cost of an adjudication, including providing biometric services. DHS will not forego any revenue associated with the biometric services fee because of this change." https://s3.amazonaws.com/public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2020-16389.pdf

Do note that there is talk about lawsuit from immigrant advocacy groups against the fee changes: https://mobile.twitter.com/gsiskind/status/1296992997679288324 Hard to predict if something will result from it (e.g. delaying fee changes, etc.)
