https://www.opb.org/article/2020/09/04/michael-forest-reinoehl-protest-fatal-shooting-self-defense/

Michael Forest Reinoehl’s death came as VICE News aired an interview in which he said he shot a Patriot Prayer supporter in what he believed was self defense.

Just hours after an interview was posted online in which Michael Forest Reinoehl took responsibility for the fatal shooting of Patriot Prayer supporter Aaron J. Danielson, Reinoehl has been killed in an attempted arrest in Lacey, Washington, near Seattle.

The New York Times first reported Reinoehl’s death. OPB has confirmed with law enforcement sources that a judge in Multnomah County authorized a warrant for Reinoehl’s arrest Thursday on a charge of murder. The U.S. Marshals Service was part of the law enforcement team that attempted to arrest Reinoehl when shots were fired.

Presumably his relatives can expect a visit from Biden?

I have an open mind about this -- I think both of these men weren't particularly angelic, and the police have been cautious about releasing a lot of info. I guess we'll learn more as we go along, and I like to hear more facts before jumping to conclusions about anything.

So I went back and watched the video of Jay Danielson being shot several times.

In his interview with VICE, Michael Reinoehl claims he was protecting his black friend from Danielson who had a knife.  Watching this video, I don't ever see any knife, but perhaps a can of mace?  There appears to be a cloud just before the first shot is fired that comes from Jay Danielson.  Does anyone else see something different?

Getting more evidence or facts is not something the mob wants.

I can't see anything.

Hopefully someone has a better security camera view or another person holding out that was recording comes forward.

All I could see was a puff or small cloud just before the gunshot.  I'm assuming mace or similar.  Then the gun was fired and made an even bigger cloud.  And sound.

That... kind of is everywhere, you know. I mean, I see over and over in here and other places online people jumping to all sorts of conclusions that just don't have facts to support them, they're based on hunches or feelings. I guess it may be that as the daughter of a doctor and a lawyer, I had it drummed into me that while we can draw all sorts of conclusions from appearances -- some of which may even turn out to be true -- it's important to keep the feelings and the guesses and the hunches in one basket, and keep facts in another. Facts often take time to build up, while feelings are often pretty quick to develop. And it's also important to rifle through the feelings and guesses frequently -- not only to see if they are now supported by evidence, but also to see if they need to be discarded because there's no there there, or to see if there are signposts and clues in there that will lead you to more facts.

Now I am far from perfect, and I know my feelings basket is almost always more full than my facts basket, but I do my best to keep them separate, and to know when the contents of one basket need to be moved to another ("facts" can definitely turn out to be feelings, after all). But I don't like to jump to conclusions. I can only control myself, after all -- the best I can do is urge other people to look for facts and reliable sources to support what they have to say. I'm a deeply emotional person, but I try not to let my emotions rule how I approach the world.

I have an open mind about what happened here right now, and I am not taking any side in particular.
