Timeline

Chicago USPS has been having issues even before the pandemic. The pandemic, new USPS Director, upcoming elections, and upcoming holiday season are only making it worse.

The package will eventually make it to USCIS but will take time because some sorting machines were removed: https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2020/08/17/mail-sorting-machines-taken-out-of-service-at-main-post-office-ohare-union-rep-says/

You may run the risk that USCIS processes both applications and payments because they use contractors to sort and check the incoming applications and they do not always do a good job at reading cover letters.

I say give it a few days to see what happens. If you wrote a check of some sort for the first application, you can cancel the check and the application will be rejected due to the payment not going through.

*Packet was mailed without I-693 medical. Will wait for an RFE and take it to the interview. Also, tax transcripts were not available at the time so copies of the tax returns were sent and a cover letter explaining why.

**Included tax transcripts in RFE response since I was now able to gain access since sending the application.
