Estimated Completion Time - N400

I filed my N400 in the Albany office in mid July and it’s saying Estimated Case Completion time is November 2020. The website says Albany’s NY Case waiting time is 11.5-17.5 months. Is this a mistake or?? 

 

I also filed to remove conditions from my Green card (2 years was last October) and ive responded to any Request for information they have sent. In July they sent me a notification it had changed jurisdiction, after they received the ROI from me. My worry is; the 18 month extension is up in April... and I haven’t heard anything now in a couple of months! Has anyone ran into this problem before?

The Estimated case completion times are all wrong.  I suspect their computer algorithms have been confused by the corona virus shutdowns.  My estimate says this month but I have not even had biometrics (or a reuse letter) yet.

I just got a notice that they are reusing my Biometrics (Last time I went to do Biometrics was 2017, for initial GC) for anyone interested.

Well, that's some good news at least! It seems some local offices are reusing biometrics, and others are not.

I don’t know why they never done this anyways, it’s ridiculous. Hopefully it will move along a tad quicker now.

I agree. It's also frustrating why some offices are doing it but others are not. Seems to be no rhyme or reason for it (people who had biometrics more recently than you did are being told to come back in for new ones, etc), I just hope we will see more and more cases of biometrics reuse because many of us have been waiting months with zero news.

For sure. It’s definitely the individual offices deciding. My office is Albany, so maybe they get the cases from NYC and they can’t do new biometrics due to offices being limited. That’s the only reason I can think of.

It's interesting also that your local office 11.5-17.5 months but your case seems to be moving so much faster. I assume it is because of the pending I-751. This could be a good sign for others in that exact situation. Be sure to let us know of any further updates! Waiting 2+ years for ROC is certainly long enough!

The processing time they list is for the average case at your office. Its possible that they predict your case will be quicker than the average - for example you're from a Western European country and these are generally considered lower risk than some other parts of the world. I'm not saying this is the reason, just that its a possible explanation. Mine was completed quicker than the average time that was listed, even though covid19 appeared right after my biometrics.

Interesting, I never thought about that. How long did it take from your Biometrics to interview?

Interview: 29 Jul 2020 (Approved - Oath taken immediately due to covid19)

 

This was in Raleigh/Durham North Carolina, where they do seem to have a relatively short wait time for N400 compared to other offices. It gave the estimate as July 2020 pretty early on (before Covid19 problems arose), then it disappeared for a while then reappeared. Despite all the disruption, it was completed just before the end of July 2020. I wasn't sure whether the estimated date applied to approval of the N400 itself, or the entire process (interview and oath). In my case (and probably happening elsewhere I would guess) the oath followed immediately after the interview due to covid.

Thank you. Hopefully my “Estimated completion date” won’t be too far off what it says! (I won’t bank on it though 😂)
