Small visa update from the embassy. K visas are at least talked about. No news yet, but seeing this at least means they acknowledged that there is some pressure on these visas. At least i hope......

It seems from what they are saying, until Manila and President of Philippines lifts the quarantines/lockdowns in Manila area, it gonna be a long time till they start doing routine K1's.

That's basically what I have been hearing the last couple of months.

If they are basing it on improvement of local conditions, there is a high possibility this wont be until at least May next year.  The Philippines may be in the worse position then almost any country in the world.  They continue to have an ever increasing confirmed case count, but also have the most draconian rules to try and prevent the spread which basically shows its not working.  The country that may have the most out of control confirmed case count could be the US, but then there are no draconian rules that would limit services too much.  I have heard that they do not plan on opening up the country and loosening restrictions until their citizens start to be vaccinated.

The thing that really annoys me with the Embassy in the Manila, is that Embassy is perfectly set up for this kind of situation where social distancing, etc is required.  It is not a "cramped" embassy in the least bit.  I still feel they should continue interviews for all classes of visas for people who are already in Manila as I cannot see any reason why they cant do these on a limited basis.  If you have been in that Embassy, youll know what Im talking about from the amount of space, etc etc etc etc etc etc.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

The backlash would be very strong if you only opened for a select few based on where they live.  They need to reopen for everyone or nobody

Yes true, I just brought up the "where they live" as some people in the provinces just can't get to Manila for an interview due to the local travel restrictions.  It seems they have made the decision to not reopen for anyone which more than likely puts interviews into the middle of next year based on what the national government has communicated on their own internal restrictions.

For those who have already interviewed and are currently caught up in Embassy mishaps remember you will have to deal with ST, Luke,s when medical has expired.  We just completed medical and got an 8 week set off for sputum even though she is negative and has tested negative before.  Money seems to be the motivator.

I especially love how they dictate and control what they post on their own website and yet they pose a really good question and then go on to absolutely ignore giving any reasonable answer to said question, what a joke:

QUESTION -

"Why are K visas, which help unite couples, not a priority, while business and student visas are?

NOT EVEN CLOSE TO AN ANSWER -

The U.S. Embassy in the Philippines will resume K visa application processing as local conditions and resources allow (Didn't seem to state WHY they are NOT Priority as your own question implied stupid :bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk::bonk:). Applicants should check our website at https://ph.usembassy.gov/visas/visa-updates/ for updates on what services that post is currently able to offer."

I.E. Why are K visas, which help unite couples, not a priority, while business and student visas are?

Paraphrase -

Why are K visas not a priority? - ddduuurrrr uhm I don't know, let's not address this one 🥴🥴🥴

Why are Business and student visas placed in higher priority? - (Truth: Money 🤑 , Reciprocity, Money 🤑 , Legal actions and Money 🤑 ) but lets just answer as ddduuuurrrrr we stupid, we not answer this one either ddduuurrrrr 🥴🥴🥴🥴

I wonder what they consider "emergency, mission-critical visa services."
