So, I understand as the petitioner the next steps after the NOA2 is to receive a welcome letter from the NVC, then fill out the affidavit of support form, pay fees, and provide financial documents. However, I’m looking for any information on anyone who may be further ahead in the process than me. I received the NOA2 in early March, never received a welcome letter though. I ended up calling the NVC in May to get my case number and it’s been crickets ever since.

Basically I’m wondering if I should have received this welcome letter already and if I should have already sent in the support form and financial documents. Anyone have current experience with this? Did they just quit sending these welcome letters out when Covid hit? A bit confused because the website says they are now processing applications for August 18th. What in the world does processing applications mean if they aren’t forwarding anything to the embassies? Thanks in advance.

I've been using this as what next steps after NOA2.

As far as i know, once your embassy will open up, NVC will send them your package and you will receive an email with all information. Then u get an appointment date. All supporting documents and medical and affidavit of support you have to bring with you.

I also have not received a welcome letter and received NOA2 in June. When I reached out to NVC they said Athens is currently not accepting K1 cases and that they would forward the case once they resume service. I’m guessing they will send the welcome letter once they are able to forward the case to the US Embassy in your country.

Are you doing a K-1, or a CR-1?  If K-1, NVC is really only a holding place for approved I-129F petitions.  The other things you mention are for CR-1s, not K-1s.  K-1 applicants take the I-135 with all supporting documentation along on the interview.

We never got a welcome letter.  We received packet 3 via email (to the petitioner).
