Hi Everyone! So I applied for my N400 online on Sept 28, 2020 and my case timeline shows May 2021 as completion time. But it has been one month now and no update so far on biometric appointment is that expected? The status currently shows "We are taking longer than expected to process your case. You do not need to do anything at this time."

Application location - New Jersey

I'm in the same boat. I applied at the beginning of September and still no words on biometrics. I think it's normal.

Same here and also from NJ.

I think that, unless you have some urgent need of obtaining the citizenship, we need to sit down and wait, otherwise we will go crazy.... I feel like it’s very unlikely it will be completed until May...

I-751 Timeline/ EAC - Vermont Service Center

9/23/19: I-751/ G-1145 sent by USPS Priority Mail

9/25/19: Received Date

9/26/19: Notified by USPS that the package was delivered (one day later... 🙄)

9/27/19: NOA1 Date (also the day USCIS texted me saying that they've received  my package on 9/25)

9/30/19: Check was cashed

10/3/19: Received NOA1 by mail with 18 months extension

10/11/19: Biometrics appointment notice

10/21/19: Date when I received my appointment letter

6/25/20: email from  USCIS saying that card is being produced

6/26/20: email from USCIS saying that case was approved

7/15/20: email from USCIS saying that card was ready to be picked up by USPS

7/16/20: email from USCIS saying that card was taken by USPS

7/17/20: I received the 10 year green card!!!!🙌😎

N-400 Timeline/ Online

9/22/20: Window opens and I sent my application online

10/1/20: Got my NOA from USCIS via mail (in which it is said that the notice date, received date, and priority date are 9/22 (the same day I submitted the application)).

5/15/21: Biometric  appointment scheduled

6/11/21: Biometrics completed

7/14/21: Interview scheduled for 8/9/2021 (however, I have moved, and even tough I had told USCIS that I moved in June 19, I still got an interview from my old address). I cancelled the interview and requested a new date.

9/8/21: New interview scheduled for 10/28/21

10/28/21: Interview day! Interviewer was super nice, not much of wait. I brought some documents, He told me that I did the favor of submitting more than enough documents online and he did not have to see any more documents and that he would recommend my case to be approved. (Also, he laughed a lot after seeing a picture of my husband and I with Rosie O'Donnell)

10/29/21: I checked on my USCIS that my oath ceremony was schedule for 11/10/21. It was really quick, actually the letter only arrived around 11/5, but they upload myUSCIS much quicker than USPS delivers the mail.

11/10/21: I became an american citizen and my journey here is over. Thank you everyone for the advice and good luck!

Hi All,

I kindly invite your insights/inputs on the following.

Today I received a letter from USCIS stating that "USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics".

USCIS will run the same security checks and use your biometric data as in the past, however, it is not necessary for you to appear at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC) for a biometrics appointment. The biometrics fee will not be refunded".

Is this normal?

Also the service center is listed as "NBC". What is the relevance of this?

Thank You.

Hey everyone! I have a quick question about biometrics being reused.  So my husband got his biometrics for ROC on 10/24/2019.  I've heard that sometimes biometrics from within the last year are reused - because it's officially been more than a year now that we're in November, does this mean there's no chance of them reusing the old biometrics? Or is the year more of a rough guideline? I'm also wondering whether they make exceptions due to COVID and the resultant delays.

Yes this is normal.

NBC is National Benefits Center.

i dont know if all center's are NBC and then you have to look at the actual location the case is at.  For me, the "reuse" letter only said NBC.  It was in the I-797 NOA letter that said NBC- KS (Kansas).  That's where I assume my case is.

I filed on Sept. 2nd and only found out by checking my USCIS account that a notice was issued for the reuse of my biometrics. So, I would 100% recommend keeping an eye out in your account. If you go to your N-400 case, you will see the tab "documents" and that's how I actually found out.

I'm sorry it's taking so long! Hopefully you'll receive a reuse of biometrics notice soon, that'll speed up the process a bit since you don't have to wait for your ASC appointment and such :) So close!

For all the people who are getting biometrics reuse notices did any of you give your biometrics abroad.

I dont think I have ever given my biometrics in the US (apart from whenever you are admitted in the country)

I did get a fingerprint done when I traveled last year at the port of entry, same with my flatmate but I got the reuse letter while my flatmate got a letter to show up for biometrics in 2 weeks. I don't know how they do it.

I check my status online but says "Case Status Delay"

We are currently experiencing technical delays with the online case status system. Your case status may be unavailable at this time and you may receive a message that your case receipt number is not recognized. We are working to correct this situation and expect a resolution in the coming days. Once updates are again available, we will notify you when your case status changes. You can change your notification preferences under settings.

Does anyone experience the same?
