Hey guys!

Since i always update you with my case... i thought i'd share my latest update. My interview date got changed to an earlier one. Yas! So hopefully i will be done with all things uscis on monday. And please pray i pass everything (interview, english and civics test) and that i also get to do my oath taking and get my naturalization certificate on monday as well. So that i can do the passport application the next day. Thanks! Wishing everyone else luck in their journey.

My N400 INA 319(b)
(Local Field Office: Imperial California)
Case Updates:

Sept 4 - I sent in my N400 under INA 319(b) Package to the Chicago Military Address via UPS.

Sept 5 - The N400 under INA 319(b) Packet arrived but the Chicago office was closed so UPS had to redeliver.

Sept 8 - UPS redelivered my N400 under INA 319(b) after the holiday and was signed for by the USCIS officer by 7:28am.

Sept 16 - The USCIS deposited my Chase Bank Cashier's check and then sent me a NOA 1 (Notice of Action 1 in my mail/address).

Sept 18 - The USCIS sent me a text message with the case number receipt (Friday night).

Sept 21 - I called the military hotline to expedite my case (Monday morning).

Sept 22 - The USCIS gave me a receipt for my expedite in my e-mail. That afternoon I also sent an e-mail request for expedite for extra measure. They approved my expedite that afternoon even before I sent my e-mail since i wasn't sure they accepted my expedite request and just sent me a receipt. But when I called to ask, the USCIS officer said it was already approved.

Sept 23 - I got my hard copy NOA 1 in my mail.

Sept 24 - The USCIS scheduled my biometrics appointment.

Sept 25 - I got the softcopy biometrics appointment letter in my documents page in my uscis account/website. My biometrics appointment is scheduled for Oct 13, 2020.

Sept 28 - I walked in my local USCIS ASC office and finished my biometrics. As soon as I walked out of the USCIS ASC door, my status changed to the USCIS is actively reviewing my case and that they reviewed my biometrics.

Oct 2 - I got the hard copy biometrics appointment letter.

Oct 5 - I called USCIS to ask if my case files are at my local USCIS office or if it was still in the NBC (National Benefits Center). They told me that its been in the local USCIS field office already. I asked an estimated date on when my interview might be (so I can fix my schedule based on that interview date) and the USCIS officer said that she had no idea and cannot tell me. It depends on when my biometrics will clear and when my local USCIS local field office might schedule it.

Oct 6 - My status changed on both USCIS websites that my interview was scheduled. The USCIS sent me a Interview Letter in my mail/address.

Oct 7 - I got my softcopy interview appointment in my documents page in my uscis account/website. My interview date is scheduled for Nov 2, 2020. I called the USCIS to ask if they can try to schedule an earlier date for my interview.

Oct 16 - My interview Schedule was cancelled (Made me Panic when I got the email notification). But I also got another email notification that A new interview was scheduled. I was confused so I had to call the military hotline and also find out when the rescheduled date is for. The USCIS Officer said it's for Oct 26, 2020 at 9:30am.

Oct 19 - I got the hard copy of my appointment interview letter. It was sent by my local USCIS Field Office and not from the NBC (National Benefits Center)

Oct 20 - I got a call from the USCIS Military Hotline that they have successfully rescheduled my interview to an earlier date and that my local field office mailed me the appointment interview letter.

Oct 21 - I checked the USCIS website and my softcopy interview appointment for October 26, 2020 is still not showing in my documents page in my uscis account/website. But at least I have a hard copy one already which is the important part. I might not get the soft copy one on my account because it was sent directly by my local USCIS field office.

What USCIS number did you call? And how did you navigate till you spoke with someone? A few of us are trying to figure out this magic number.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

I call up the uscis military hotline number. Its a dedicated number to people who are or have been in the military and their families. So not sure if that applies to you. But its the generic one that's on the uscis website. The only difference is that with the military hotline they know about the extra requirements we have to pass and how to go about our cases. I only used them for this n400 since we're pcsing/moving abroad to japan and there are military stop movement orders and travel bans against americans going in america and for us to travel even locally within japan so i would not be able to do my roc next year and then my n400 in 2022. And if i didn't have my citizenship i wouldn't be allow to work on base in japan and i also can't work locally in japan for the next 3 years while we are stationed there.

But don't worry i usually get the the automated girl too even on the military hotline and sometimes it takes me 10 mins till i get to uscis agent. But then the magic word seems to be "expedite my case" "talk to agent" since you need an agent to actually do that. And on those calls, i wasn't really trying to expedite just the first or second time. But those magic words seem to really work. So you can try that.

When i was doing my k1 fiance visa and my aos i went the regular route though and so i know how the regular uscis hotline is. And no there is no other number and you just have to try using those magic words to get to an agent or a tier 2 one. Another magic phrase i used was "reschedule my biometrics" cause they gave me an agent right away but i learned about it cause i really had to reschedule my biometrics for my aos in dec 2018 to jan 2019. because my husband and i were were going home for 1.5 weeks for christmas with my husband's family and was gonna be out of state where we are currently stationed at.

But anyhow.. if it makes you feel better my bestfriend and her husband are march 2020 n400 filers and they still up till now do not have a biometrics appointment just like other people. They're just really backed up now with the pandemic and they seem to really be working on getting back on track with their biometrics and everyone else's cases. But for sure at the initial center in the national benefits center they laid off 850 contractors that review your cases before your case is sent off to the biometrics center. And so those 500 left are really working their asses out as fast as they can. But they are just 500 reviewing all those applications. So there's only so much they can do.

Can someone check if they can login to uscis site and see their status?

I can login, but get a "Something wrong" message within the USCIS site (not from my browser).

Reason I logged in was i received an email today stating:

"We have taken an action on your case and it needs your attention

Sign in to your account to view your case status and additional steps you need to take"

On the same note, i also changed my settings on both uscis accounts on their 2 websites to send me email notifications when something changes. So the app alerts me, and my emails alert me. I also have informed USPS so I know when hard copy notifications are on their way. It's just a good warning system so i don't have to keep checking both websites everyday especially the other one with a 2 step verification. And i know when i need to go out and check my mailbox too.

Thanks for the great info.  From a timing perspective, which notification (e-mail, android app, 2 USCIS websites) do you get first and what's the lag for the other ones?

Thanks!

Nevermind,

Seems the site was updating my case (for an hour) but is showing info now.

The update was Biometrics appointment, it's not needed.

They will reuse past Biometrics.

And made a point to say the BioM fee will not be refunded.

At least passed another checkmark!

(9/30 N-400 submit date

10/2 NOA

10/22 dated Bio update)

Congrats so happy for you! Expect them to schedule you for interview in the next few days as soon as your case has been sent/transferred to your local uscis field office.

You're welcome! It's my pleasure to help others. I wouldn't be in the position that i am now without all the helpful things i was able to read from others in this forum.

I usually get the app notification right away. Then the emails follow (but it might just be because emails take a few seconds or minutes to update - but those emails are from the old website which is where the app is linked to). And then usually a few hours till a day after i get another email notification from the new website and that's the only time they really update my status on the new website. You don't get email notifications for uploaded documents in your documents tab on the new website.

Guys please wish me luck and keep me in your prayers. I'm doing my interview on monday morning next week! I'm so nervous since i know i'll get more scrutiny since we've been married only & i've only been here in the us for 2 years and 2 months.

New Update as of today:

My N400 INA 319(b)

It depends on when my biometrics will clear and when my local USCIS local field office might schedule it.

Oct 6 - My status changed on both USCIS websites that my interview was scheduled. The USCIS sent me a Interview Letter in my mail/address.

N-400 Timeline/ Online

9/22/20: Window opens and I sent my application online

10/1/20: Got my NOA from USCIS via mail (in which it is said that the notice date, received date, and priority date are 9/22 (the same day I submitted the application)).

5/15/21: Biometric  appointment scheduled

6/11/21: Biometrics completed

7/14/21: Interview scheduled for 8/9/2021 (however, I have moved, and even tough I had told USCIS that I moved in June 19, I still got an interview from my old address). I cancelled the interview and requested a new date.

9/8/21: New interview scheduled for 10/28/21

10/28/21: Interview day! Interviewer was super nice, not much of wait. I brought some documents, He told me that I did the favor of submitting more than enough documents online and he did not have to see any more documents and that he would recommend my case to be approved. (Also, he laughed a lot after seeing a picture of my husband and I with Rosie O'Donnell)

10/29/21: I checked on my USCIS that my oath ceremony was schedule for 11/10/21. It was really quick, actually the letter only arrived around 11/5, but they upload myUSCIS much quicker than USPS delivers the mail.

11/10/21: I became an american citizen and my journey here is over. Thank you everyone for the advice and good luck!
