Hello 👋🏽

i am really clueless what to do, I received an Rejection Notice today, but neither me nor my husband understand what the problem is. It basically states that the payment amount is incorrect, I put in a G1450 with my package and the authorized fee was 1225$. I’m in category C9.
i spoke to uscis, they couldn’t help me and said the fee should have been correct 🤔 so I asked to speak to a higher manager. 5 hours later I get a call and the officer can not help me either. She told me to use the online calculator and send an email to lockbox uscis. So I used the online calculator and it told me 1225$ was the correct amount.
now I called them again and another employee told me, the correct amount should be 1225$. I did send an email to the lockbox but it said a reply can take up to 30 business days. She told me I can send in the paperwork that they send back to me, all I have to do is send a new 765 because the form changed in August, and send in a money order instead of a G1450.

I would really like to know, what you guys think of this situation. They send to me a table with the NEW fees, which are starting in October so I believe someone might have made a mistake and thought I would have to pay the new fees?! How can I ensure that I do not get another RFE
what I send in with my original package:

G1450 (authorization of credit card)

I485 (with I864 and I944)

I765

I131

all evidence anyone could think of (Highschool diploma, bachelors, everything mentioned on the forum)

I also took the time to write cover letters for each part of the application.

Can Someone please help me? I am very upset and feel frustrated.
thanks in advance 🙌🏾

below parts of my email to the lockbox:

The fee as of today consists of 1140$ for the filing fee and 85$ for the biometrics fee. Because filing takes place after July 2007 and is filed alongside the I-485 there is no fee for the I131. Additionally, there is no fee for the I765. The relevant category (C9) is an exemption category if filed after July 2007 and the full fee for the I485 is paid. With the original package I’ve send in a G1450, with an amount of 1225$ on it. Unfortunately, neither me nor my husband understand what the problem with the payment is. I called the hotline and your employee was not able to enlighten me, as she also said the fee should be correct. I asked to talk to her supervisor, which called me back 5 hours later, to tell me she cannot help me, and that I should go to the online calculator to find out, what the fee for my paperwork is. I did put in my information on your online calculator, and it also stated that I am supposed to pay 1225$. I will send a screenshot with this email. I talked to Officer 👮‍♀️ xxx, which provided me with this email address. Please let me know, what the correct fee is, and how you would prefer to receive the money, so I can ensure that I can take care of the issue. If there is any further reason for the rejection I would really like to know, what the issue is, so that I can take care of it properly. If there is another issue, please tell me, how I can improve the paperwork.

There's not much you can do about the rejection. Just download the forms again fill them out double checking everything and send them all again to Chicago.

On the monthly thread, you posted that you wrote C9P for the category. The right category is C9.

If you are sure you filled out everything correctly, just resend it. USCIS makes mistakes. And don't waste your time calling them. They can't do anything about it, and they won't help you. USCIS phone line is often called Misinformation line.

Is it possible that the credit card transaction didn't go through? The photo says "incorrect or not submitted".

My card was charged 10 days ago for the same amount.

No my husband called the bank and they didn’t try to charge his credit card at all. And I have spoken to another applicant and he also just received the same RFE So I don’t think it is about the P inC9

Sometimes the person you talk to from the bank can't see a transaction that didn't go through until a couple days/weeks after it happened. I've seen a couple of cases here where the same thing happened, the transaction didn't go through but the bank said they never tried to charge it. I would suggest sending a check or money order instead.

And make sure you have the updated 765 form. They just released a new one last month.

Thanks yeah that’s what I’ll do I guess. I just hope it’ll be ok next time I don’t want to pay the October fees.

This is good advice. We used a check for exactly this reason. Credit cards seem to frequently get declined, most likely because it's a significant amount in a single charge without the card present.

Also C09P is definitely a code they use for C9. It's on my combo card.

Ours got rejected for this reason as well. We resubmitted with a cashiers check and the bank guarantees that money.

I send my paperwork in on Saturday with a print out of their online calculator, attached the money order to it. Wrote new cover letters, for every single form which also included the fee, and I hope it will work out this time. Good luck to you, too!
