Has anyone seen this? It appears that my 4 year old son who is a US citizen with a US passport will also need a Philippine visa to travel with my wife who is a citizen of the Philippines.

 

Apparently this is new since August. Am I understanding this correctly?

Huge!  It doesn't make sense but it is most likely politics.  Imagine all the K-1 people who have to get their pre trip visas to meet.  How many young couples want to go through that?  It is a hassle

Yes.  That is correct.  I am in the process of getting my visa now so I can go celebrate my step daughter's 18th birthday in the Philippines.

 

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

 

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

 

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

Did you go direct to the consulate to apply or did you mail it in?

we would have to travel to LA to go to the consulate since it’s the closest to us.

You can mail it in.  Is your spouse in the US now and they plus your child is going back to the Philippines to see someone?  You may want to write to the consulate on your exact details.  If your spouse or child is already in the Philippines, I can give you a ton of helpful hints on that and what is exactly occurring on entry to the Philippines.  But if they are already in the US, I would write to the Consulate first before applying.  The consulates are replying same day or faster to emails.  They are actually very helpful right now which is surprising.

Me I was going to leave my wife at home in USA, and catch a flight to PI

The report of marriage would be needed prior to the report of birth for the child and to get the passport for the child . . . A K1 and the Philippines just makes it complicated.    I'd bet the report of marriage would be needed for the asawa to get a visa too if the spouse was a K1.

What I meant if I wanted to fly to PI.  I have not done ROM and don't plan on ever doing ROM.  No kids for me

 

I wanted to visit PI and leave wife back in USA to take care of house and dogs

No restrictions on Filipino Passport holders.   And you would only ever have to do a ROM if you wanted to change your name on your passport.

For us both my wife and son are in the US and are planning to travel to the Philippines in October.

We have the report of birth abroad and report of marriage.

The only thing we need right now is the new visa for our 4 year old son.

YOUR son, or is your wife the mother?   If your wife is the mother why not simple get a Philippine passport for the child?  After all the child is a dual citizen
