I loved all the holidays when working there. :)  The problem is that throughout the year, they will just add holidays but they are done only a week or two in advance so you dont have time to plan vacations etc.  But one of the best things there is all the holidays we got.

I remember when the Pope flew into Manila in 2015, we got 3 days off of work for that so there was less traffic so the Pope could move around easily. The problem though was the security.  I was at an expats house in Forbes at the time the Pope was flying in.  They shut down the entire mobile phone network about 1 hour before he arrived and then while he transferred to Malacanang where he was staying.  He must have arrived around 4pm or so and made it impossible for me to do my job so we had to go back the next day.  Plus for the 3 days, whenever the Pope traveled around the mobile network was shut off for security purposes......for HIS security purposes, not for anyone else in all of Manila that had an emergency.

Also when APEC was going on, we were given all those days off so the delegates could move around more easily.

There were a ton of holidays but as long as you are getting them off work, I wasnt going to complain :)  However they can be a hassle if people need to get something done quickly.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

lol, maybe they preferred the Japanese Imperialists using them for target practice?

Man that just gets me pretty angry to see them put that type of stuff on a Facebook.

I think there are another 17,000 American Imperialists' buried in US Military Graveyard in Manila, defending their country.  Talk about some ungrateful people.

I have visited the American Cemetery in Manila but didn't know about Clark.  The Manila cemetery is beautiful.  It is very much worth the visit.

They say part of the reason the lawn looks so good is they use some Mt. Pinatubo ash in the fertilizer.  Keeping it that green in that climate takes some serious work.  I am impressed every time I visit there.
