The embassy received the medical exam results and we were officially approved today! :) This all happened in the middle of the night for me, so I was unintentionally waking up every hour just to check the status on NVC. Luckily, it only took about 3 hours before it finally said "Issued"! The last wait is for my husband's passport to be returned. I cannot believe that after almost 4 years of long distance (and a tumultuous 2020 with COVID-19 messing up everyone's plans), we will finally be living in the same country. No more airport goodbyes, bad internet connections, or dreading when each visit will end!

Anyway, I just wanted to thank everyone on VJ. The immigration process is long and daunting, but it was so nice to have a community of people who are knowledgeable, supportive and helpful! I wish everyone on here the best of luck. I know that we will all be reunited with our loved ones soon!

That's such great news, congratulations to you both and the start of this new chapter of your lives in one place, together!

Pull on those heartstrings and submit as much evidence as possible why this is a hardship on petitioner. Use COVID to your advantage.

This is the bit I'm concerned about... Most of the hardship is on me, the beneficiary. Obviously my wife is scared and worried for my mental health and my safety (I've got a consultation this week with a mental health specialist because I just can't cope anymore and I was assaulted in my own house by my estranged father a few months ago, who lives nearby and threatened to kill me lol). Obviously that stuff is serious and she's scared, but its all happened to me. She has a good support network, I have almost nobody. Would we just spin this to be her being really scared for my health and safety? I mean it's the truth, but... Ya know. Obviously covid has exacerbates it all as well, not knowing anything about when I'm gonna get to be home with my wife is soul crushing.

The issue with concerning mental health/physical health issues pertaining to the beneficiary is that it could work against you both in that, it may come across as being a "burden" on the healthcare system once you arrive in the US. If you also declare mental health issues you will lost likely need to show that you are deemed stable during your medical or a letter by a practitioner to show this. I remember reading on here where someone had to have a mental health review session to be deemed to have no concerns as they had no records of their previous resolved mental health issues.

On a side note- I am glad you are addressing your mental health needs and advocate you to continue to pursue this. If anything, the time spent waiting- you should use wisely for your well-being.

Well isn't that fantastic, this exact situation ruining my mental health might work against my ability to get out of this situation. I am completely devoid of hope with this now. I feel like a lost child and I just want to go home. 😕

I appreciate the heads up.

I feel cutthroat saying that! Sorry! Sent you a message of support. Please continue to address your MH needs and it shouldn't affect you negatively in that a letter from the MH practitioner stating that you are ok, and addressing your needs should be fine, if asked. I just think focussing on it as a detrimental factor could work against you. Keep positive!

I replied and thank you! I didn't mean to make you feel bad :( I'm waiting on that exact letter, should be getting it tomorrow. Literally the only thing causing this yo be so bad is being apart and not knowing when it's gonna end because... Y'know, covid.

Thank you. I'm trying. 😕 ❤️

Yes, they did start with Student Visa last month, along with criticals, they should be thinking about spouses next considering they are mission critical and they have mentioned in the tweet that they will begin processing  in coming weeks. Hopefully soon now.

Coivd Situation not that positive in India however air travel to and fro US has been happening since almost 2 months and lock down has been pretty much lifted except educational institutions and entertainment.

Man seems like Sweden is the place we all need to be. Lovely, safe and hardly any COVID.

But really Congratulations. Finally living in one house. 🥳
