We just filed our K1 papers last week. I know we can start to collect our papers now and financial information for our I134. My question is....how close do the interview date does the I134, letter from employer and letter from bank need to be dated. I know I'll need a new letter of intent close to that date....but what about these other items...is it best to wait till the packet 3 arrives or slightly before? Or can we get these now...

Thanks...

well congrats on the first steps of your journey! It wont hurt to collect the supporting evidence but keep in mind, the USCIS is always updating their forms and you would hate to have expired forms for your interview. I am not quite sure about how far in advanced about the employer and/or bank employer can be dated since each embassy is different. I would email the embassy and ask. I wish you a speedy process!!!

If you were going through any service center other than Vermont I'd say it was too soon but since you are going through Vermont start now 'cause chances are you'll get your NOA2 in about two months or less. If he does not have a passport tell him to start now. I didn't do anything because everyone said to wait and because of this we actually had to wait two months before submitting the pkt 3 since Vermont was so quick.

Good luck!

I would start now, our petition was approved in 7 days out of Vermont. There are things that you may not realize the time involved in getting them. Better to research all of it now and get the non-time critical items out of the way. Good luck on your journey...

No longer in the hands of the USCIS, for my wife at least, next up MIL.

Well, He got his passport a few days before he mailed back the I129F forms...LOL. He was just to excited and took him only a day to get it. I was shocked...here there is such a LONG wait. He is getting any papers in advance that he can and getting them translated, i know he will have to get the police report after the packet comes but he said it only takes a few days.....I think he needs evidence of WHY he needs this...is that true?? How long does it take to get the pollice report in? Anyone know???

Once your fiance gets his packet 3, start getting everything together. Even after he submits his packet 3, chances are he won't have an interview for at least 2 months

Wow different answers....I think Ill use a bit of them all. We are collecting what we CAN now that isn't DATED and having it all translated. His birth certificate, and im collecting what I need for the I134. Once we get the approval...I'lll get everything that needs signed and notorized done and fed ex it to him. That should give us about a month before he gets his packet three...Is vermont THAT fast??/ According to the records HERE on VJ Vermont is taking 60 days to send out the NOA1 and 2's. Meaning we won't have approval tilll approximately two months from now. From what I read we then have 2-3 weeks for the app to get to Cairo then 2 weeks for them to get packet 3 out. Is this about right? Or am i misjudging this time???? I can only PRAY vermont is THAT fast. I just htought the embassy would want up to date information...not sth that is 6 months old or more. What do you all think? We have most of what we need already...jsut the dated things and notorizations need completed.

So Doodlebug, yours is going soo fast. WOW. I can only pray ours will. Is Vermont STILL working as fast? I noticed he has his packet three and medical exam within 4 months of filing. Thats Awesome. WE can only pray this goes fast after 4 years of this long distance. Its getting harder. We are soo excited and I've been collecting things for my I134 to prove my finacial dependence. He is collecting everything we can think of that he can up front and we are planning another trip to meet (4th in 3 years) this august. Then Im hoping to fly back for the interview jsut for moral support. I know Im not allowed to go in. But at least we can say we were there together. And prove another meeting yet and that Im THERE and we are truely a couple. Good luck for a speedy interview and AP .

Yeah it took us two months to get the NOA2 (the NOA1 just says that Vermont received it and that only takes days after submitting the application) and then only about two weeks from the NOA2 to the time my husband got the pkt3. Had we done everything ahead of time and submitted the pkt3 when we got it then he would probably already have had his interview by now and we'd be in AP. I know Deemabrouk's interview was scheduled fairly quickly after submitting the pkt3, though a while back it used to take on average 4 months from the time the pkt 3 was sent in. I think they're doing better these days as far as that is concerned.

Took a while for my husband to get his passport not because of getting the passport but because getting the military papers was time consuming since he couldn't find his old birth certificate information proving he was the only son since it got lost when his father died...so he had to go all over the universe getting that stuff squared away first.

Also, you can have the papers translated if you want but it's not necissary. Nouna's fiance didn't and he should be getting his visa soon.

And...in addition, although Vermont is super fast they are super super fast when it's a K-1. I forget her name but someone here going through Morocco filed when I did and her fiance got here a few weeks ago. I believe their petition got approved through Vermont in 1 week.

Egypt does take longer but being with Vermont speeds you up a good few months. The long wait will be AP/AR. For some reason, although the security checks could be done within a week (again in Deemabrouk's case), Cairo will sit on it possibly for months. THAT is the frustrating aspect of this whole thing.

Wow, this is awesome....so the 6-8 months is reasonable time to get approved and have interview....its then the A\P that can take so long. We have an age gap so Im hoping THAT doesnt SLOW it down. I've heard things on here where they really look harder at this EVEN WITH proper on going relationship documentation...Vermont got our application a week ago. Are the statistics shown on the immigration timeline here accurate? I know it doesn't reflect in close to what Vermont sees in applications so by the law of large numbers I realize that it COULD be faster in reality. But how accurate ARE these numbers on this immigration timeline posted here?

No, like I said before, the k-1's seem to be approved a lot faster via Vermont than the k-3's and as far as I can tell the timelines that are up in the "immigration timelines" area are quite accurate...a heck of a lot more than those on the vermont service center site.

You can get your medical appt anytime, you don't have to wait for the pkt 3, but I'm not sure how long the results are good for. It only took my husband two days to get the appt but it took him a week to get the results. Good luck!

How does one go about getting the medical appointment? Does someone have a list of doctors they can give me in Cairo? Does he need the paperwork to have the doctor fill out? Would be GREAT if he could schedule the appointment as soon as we get our approval...that would only be a few weeks tilll he gets his packet 3. Does anyone have this list that I could have my guy contact a doctor . Isn't there certain papers the doctor must fill in? Where can he get those? That would be awesome if he could get it done between the noa2 and the packet 3 coming in. Im sure 2 or 3 weeks won't hurt. WE just don't want ANYTHING to delay this. THanks

The embassy mailed my husband's papers (pakcket 3) to him with all the medical stuff that is required. He received a list of doctors to choose from. Your fiance will make an appointment with one of the doctors that is on the list and will bring the forms that the embassy mailed to him so the doctor will fill them out. At least that is how the embassy in Jordan did it.
