When does your current status end? Consult an immigration attorney if COS to B-2 status for the few months of cancer treatment is viable. Note that you should send documentation that you have a residence abroad to return to with the I-539 filing. Also include proof of available funds to support your extended stay and expenses.

Is there some benefit to the OP's doing this if the F-2 status is not ending soon?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

None. That is why I asked OP when does F-2 status ends (i.e. is it soon or is there ample time?).

Thanks.  I wasn't sure......

F1 and F2 temporary students visa's?

Just making sure as the question does not make a lot of sense in this context..

you cannot get any permanent status unless you have a petition to adjust to a permanent status like green card. The current wait time for indian born folks is 80+ years in employment based category

Hopefully they are better at law than maths.
