Hello Everyone, Starting this thread to know if anyone from family based immigration category is waiting for interview at Montreal consulate. Kindly share info and experience.

Sorry, I don’t get your response. F3 is Family Based category (married children of US citizens). When was that suspended? Could you share a link or clarify? Thanks

A person who qualifies for an F3 is not a child per the referenced segment of the INA.

"INA § 101(b)(1)(A)-(G) – Definitions (b) As used in titles I and II- (1) The term "child" means an unmarried person under twenty-one years of age who is- (A) a child born in wedlock; (B) a stepchild, whether or not born out of wedlock, provided the child had not reached the age of eighteen years at the time the marriage creating the status of stepchild occurred; (C) a child legitimated under the law of the child's residence or domicile, or under the law of the father's residence or domicile, whether in or outside the United States, if such legitimation takes place before the child reaches the age of eighteen years and the child is in the legal custody of the legitimating parent or parents at the time of such legitimation;"

A "child" is defined in the INA as an under 21, unmarried individual. It does not refer to adults who are related. Did you read INA 101(b)(1) like your screenshot references?

Ok, I understand now. Thanks. I am still not sure then why Montreal consulate is scheduling interviews for F3 category if it is suspended in 2020. Anyways, please continue to share any updates you receive so we all can stay informed

My understanding is they're not. Do you actually have an interview scheduled for 2020 or know of anyone who has in a banned category?

There is a possibility of getting an interview, I suppose, but the visa itself will only be issued after the ban is over plus the duration of the visa is limited by the length of the validity of the medical.

We are in the F3 category as well, waiting for an interview in Montreal. The Montreal consulate started resuming interviews that were canceled before the nationwide lockdown went into effect... I think there is still a possibility of the interview happening before Dec. 31, but the visa will not be issued until further notice (or at least until 2021).
