All,

My wife will attend the interview on 9/14 (CR1-visa) and unfortunately she could not find her passport at the time we received interview letter. We decided to get new passport after reported to police that she lost it. She finally got her new passport on hand.  Fortunately, she found her old passport yesterday. We confuse what we need to do next.

My question is that:

1) Old passport cant use for travel anymore, but we want to keep it in case that officer asks for original stamps that she and I traveled outside of country for several times. is it ok to do that? Does she need to return this passport to police as it had being reported as lost?

2) Since she has new passport, what does she need to do to inform US Embassy? Do we need to fill out new DS-260 in CEAC or email embassy to update the new passport info?

Thanks in advance.

No one here is likely to know how your wife's unnamed country deals with cancelled passports.  She will obviously need to find that out from her own country's government.

Take both to the biometric, medical and consulate appointment.  The CO can change the DS-160 to the current passport.
