JOINT SPONSOR PROOF OF US CITIZENSHIP - CR1 INTERVIEW

The NVC says my wife should bring original copies of all documents to her visa interview.

I submitted a photocopy of my joint sponsor's US passport to NVC as proof of their (the joint sponsor's) US citizenship AND domicile. My wife will not be able to bring the joint sponsor's passport to the interview.

My wife is getting in touch with the consulate's local customer service hotline. I expect they will just say "it's strongly recommended to bring all original documents".

I was thinking she could bring a photocopy of the joint sponsor's passport (yes, I know the NVC says no photocopies...) and some of the joint sponsor's old physical passports.  Again, the original passport is not available, as the joint sponsor is not willing to send it around the world....

Any advice on this? Does my wife even need to bring that document?

One of the civil documents is the petitioner documents,

"If you are applying for an IR1, CR1, or F2A visa as the spouse of a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident and your petitioning spouse was previously married:  You must obtain evidence of the termination of EVERY prior marriage your petitioning spouse has had. This evidence must be an original or certified copy of one of the following documents:  FINAL legal divorce decree, death certificate, or annulment papers."

Otherwise yes, only your spouses civil documents.

OK thanks! Yes that's what I thought, but the wording on their website is terrible and makes it sound as if every document should be brought...

brought is different than originals brought.
