It's harder to decide than I though..... specially with you guys naming so many wonderful places! :star:

We're spending -2 nights in Ireland

-3 nights in France

-2 nights in Italy

-? nights in the Netherlands

-? nights in Switzerland

-? nights in some other country we don't know yet (Greece maybe)

Now we have to decide how many nights we should/can spend in each of those countries, what cities we should stay in and decide on the last country (if any) too.

It's been a little stressful trying to find the best deals and calculate the best way to go from one country to another..... I'd love to use trains just for the experience, but plane tickets are pretty cheap there... My travel agent is doing a great job as you can tell.... NOT

1. Durham, England......It's an amazing place. I go there everytime I visit my family in the UK. The Cathedral is breathtaking, as is York Minster alittle down the road.

When I win the lottery, we are retiring there ( Durham).... :D

2. Rome, Italy

3. Seville, Spain ( amazing ancient history there)

4. Heraklion, Crete ( King Minos temple)

Also on my list would be anywhere Scandanavian ( the fjords)!

:D:D LisaD...You love Durham too? I grew up not 10 miles away from the City Centre! It's a MAGICAL place ( great Uni there too :D )

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Wow people you're making me want to stay in Europe for months!!

Well, we're gonna go to Ireland because we're going to a concert there.... so that one is already decided. Then Paris because Dave wants to visit his favorite chess player's grave  .

Amsterdam would be a great choice! I've always wanted to see that place..... I'll put it on my list to check the hotel prices later.

Is Barcelona good? You've mentioned it and maybe I'll put that on the list to decide later too... I've always thought it was a good one but I hated a teacher of mine that was from there

 Keep the cities coming! hehe

Barcelona is terrific! Beaches, culture, music, architecture and art, in a large city that still takes siestas in the middle of the day! Plus GREAT food and SANGRIA!!!

Paris is a TOTAL must (thought I am a bit biased). I also suggest London and Nice (Montecarlo is right next door and is GORGEOUS).

One thing I will suggest is that if you are taking the train overnight, reserve a bed. You are going to be so exhausted after travelling that a seat will not cut it. I tried to save some money by just booking a seat overnight from Paris to Munich, and when I got to Munich I wasted half a day in bed asleep. Afterwards, I booked a bunk bed on the way back and it was SO much better.

Have so much fun! I am jealous!!!

If I could go right now it would be to Istanbul B) paritally because my husband is from Turkey, but my real reason is because it's a beautiful country with rich culture. I love the language (still trying to learn), food, music, and the history.

But for other european cities I would next go to Barcelona, Paris and Rome ^_^

I´d recomend driving through the Loire, in France, very romantic and very pretty, as well as peaceful, with good food and good wine.

Ok, true, I havent been to Europe but mom went everywhere in Europe and she loved doing this bit.
