hi LeThanhTon,

I'm curious once the visa is approved, do they give you a specific timeframe where you MUST return/ enter the US?

thank you sir.

UCIS gave us 5 months from the date of the visa to re-enter the US but I was told by the consulate we can ask for an extension.

Just wanted to give everyone an update. Wife and I went to the Consulate in HCMC on Monday 10/19/2020, and we received her passport with IV stamp and sealed immigration paperwork today. Process was much faster than I could ever have imagined.

Appreciative of all the advice we received on this board. Thank you. Best wishes in your visa journeys.

Thank you for sharing. I also requested DCF for my husband at Consular General in HCMC on June 30, 2021 and got approved on July 02, 2021. Luckily after 2 weeks of lockdown here, I finally got a scheduled interview date which is on the upcoming July 26, 2021 to submit I-130 and other required documents. Just wondering how long did it take for the US Consular General to contact your wife(the Beneficiary) after the date you submited all the documents on your part?

Congratulations on getting approved for the DCF.  We received the email approval and Instruction Package to submit our online DS-260 two days after submitting our I-130 at the HCMC consulate. Once we submitted our DS-260, it took the consulate another two days to contact us for the CR-1 interview. The interview date was 7 days after that. A very quick process.

Thank you for your prompt response. Cross my finger hoping for the covid cases going down so no more lockdown and waiting on my side. Im looking forward to Monday to submit my I130.

So, I submitted my  a request to file an I-130 petition (for my wife) at the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City rather than with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) citing COVID-19 for the exceptional circumstances via the consulate webform on Sunday (Vietnam time) and it was approved a few minutes ago. Sometimes it's worth a try no matter how remote the chances are.

Hi, I have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering. We're also thinking of filing an I-130 petition through the HCM consulate. Did you only state Covid-19 as the exeptional circumstance? Did you have a job offer from the US?

Yes, I cited the COVID-19 for the exceptional circumstance for consulate processing. Suggest you use the same reason now that Vietnam is experiencing a wave of new infections. Good luck.
