I have found it impossible to talk to anyone at the Embassy,  You ask a direct question and they give the same response, your visa is being processed.  Whatever that means.

SLEC has had a bad reputation for years for all kinds of BS things.  I am really surprised that the Embassy still uses them, especially when the amount of hand greasing is rampant throughout that place.  I have seen it first hand on numerous occasions and the Embassy knows about it but nothing has been done.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

I really don't want to get a bunch of negative stuff started against the USEM and St. Luke's. but the question was asked did I ever call the Embassy.  I called and have records of those calls.  One in particular stands out when I complained about the visa being issued one day and withdrawn the next.  I was told that i would receive a response within 24 hours.  The next day the Embassy responded with a State Department Document telling me how to apply for a K1 visa.   Never did tell me why our visa was being held.  Nothing but frustration.

It only took fours months to have the 129f approved and 1 month for NVC to sent me MNL Number.  The rest of the year and one-half has been spent dealing  with St. Luke's and the Embassy.  So glad to hear the system worked for you, and it has worked for many others as well, but no one should have to go through what they are doing  to us.

Did you speak to an American CO or a local?  There are many locals working on the visa and the ACS side of the embassy.  Whenever I have had pushback and it came from a local, I asked to speak to an American CO and always got my stuff done.  Things may just be operating differently now during this COVID period, but if you havent spoken to an American, ask too.

I got so upset with the Embassy fire wall that is manned by locals that I demanded access to an American and they finally gave me an Email address.  I wrote an Email carefully explaining all the problems I was having and sent it.  Got a reply back from Mumbai, India because the Email address from the firewall was wrong.  Things were so screwed up in the Embassy that I had hoped that they would give me an interview but  that is out of the question.   Have contacted Senator Ted Cruz for assistance and I am waiting on his response.  I should explain that in late February and early March the Embassy Consulate Website was down for maintenance.  I suspect now that they were packing up to close for Covid.

So sorry to hear all the horror stories. We have our own share of it but I don't even want to get started. Anyway, hope you guys can get thru the process easily, now that there is a little certainty on the quarantine situation-- NCR will be on GCQ till 30 Sep. Please take advantage of the window as, depending on how the covid cases turn out, we might go back to MECQ after 30 Sep.
