I765 processing time for adjustment of status

Hello, 

 

I recently got married & submitted my I-765, I-485 and I-30 in April of this year. I was in the middle of adjusting status. When I applied for the i765 it said the processing time was 4-6 months, after re checking today it says 28.5 - 37 months. Does anyone know why this would change to this very long time frame?

I doubt COVID 19 would back log it an extra 24 months. 3-4 months closed would not push something back 24 months.

Probably still about 6 months.  The I-765 and I-131 are not adjudicated in offices that have public visitors, so have not been closed.

Good news.  USCIS is not tax funded. The agency is fully funded by the fees it collects.

Its not out of the question actually.  Green cards at my LFO were taking 13.5-23.5 months pre-covid.  Resources are finite, and COVID has thrown a spanner into the already stretched works.

I-765 is not adjudicated at Local Field Office.  It's generally done at the National Benefits Center in Lee's Summit, MO.

Yup.  I was using that example to show that wait times can be quite long, and one should expect to bring updated info.

There is no "bringing" of info, updated or otherwise, involved in the adjudication of the I-765.

it delayed fast & furious an entire year and that movie was already finished production! but on a serious note, covid-19 is the likely culprit

The EAD / I-765 processing times also increase up to 36 months, which is the same time as the I-485. It make me wonder if submitting the I-765 was pointless.
