That’s a relief. Now I’m just stressing over the joint sponsor docs 😕

Out of interest, what documents are you planning on bringing with you?

What specifically are you stressing over? I used a joint sponsor, and was approved at my interview this Monday.

Congratulations.

As a matter of interest  what was your USCIS Approval Date?

Thank you! I got my I-130 approval on the 13th of May.

May! Wow, its been quite a wait. What about your LND Number, when was that received?

LND was received on 12th of August.

Booked medical for Monday 17th, then through an absolute miracle an interview came up on Monday 24th.

Congrats DCB, I just read your review of the interview experience and it was very helpful. Out of interest, other than the I-864 for the petitioner and the joint sponsor (+ the tax transcripts), were you asked for any other evidence for the joint sponsor (e.g. pay-stubs, a letter from their employer)?

Well my parents are co-sponsoring. My dad is retired and mom is self-employed. The tax documents required (according to The I-864 instructions) are just not ones I am used to when filling my own taxes, so just stressing over not having everything we need.

I had attached W2's and 10099's (self-employed equivalent to a W2) to the tax transcripts.

Did it ask for 1099 self employed slips? They are similar to W2's but instead of from employer to employee, they are company to contractor, if that makes sense? You wouldn't have them, or need them if you mom's business was selling greeting cards online for example.

We read this for self employed:

-Total and Complete Tax Return: All schedules associated with the federal return including Schedule C (Profit/Loss from Business), Schedule D (Capital Gains/Loss), Schedule E (Supplemental Income/Loss) and Schedule F (Profit/Loss from Farming).

-Business Licenses and registrations.

-Signed and dated statement about the nature of the business and the sponsors involvement.

-Bank Statements for the previous 6 months.

And this for retired:

-Recent Pension Statements and Current Pension Payment Receipts

-Social Security Documents that indicate payments

-Complete Tax Returns

-Bank Statements for the previous 6 months

That being said, my dad’s retirement income is plenty to cover being a sponsor so I will likely just do the form I-864A for my mom’s income since they file jointly. I’ll provide as much info as possible. If they don’t ask for it, then great... but I’d rather be safe than sorry.

Sounds like you have more than enough evidence there.

we plan to just bring evidence of us bank account and email correspondence for a car quote and rentals.

I'm still waiting to ask them what we need since hubby is exempt from the I-864. Not opening that can of worms until we get our LND though. :)
