Hey!

I just have a question about sponsorship. I am beginning the process for adjustment of status, and wondered if anyone could help me with a sponsorship question.

Ideally, I would like to sponsor my spouse without a cosigner, but I did not meet the requirements in the most recent tax year, as I was living overseas and not earning very much. I am now back in the states (a US citizen), and my new job meets the requirements for sponsorship. Is there any way I could use this information to sponsor the application?

Thank you for your help!

CURRENT income is king.  As the primary sponsor, you still have to submit an I-864 with current income information and appropriate tax documents.  If required, you must have filed taxes for the last 3 years.  The Immigration Officer will consider you entire financial situation, but if your income is borderline, it might be good to have a joint sponsor's I-864 and supporting documents ready.
