N-400 interview notice received by mail BUT no update online

Hi everyone, 
Yesterday, a friend of mine here in SanDiego who filled online last year received a rescheduled notice by MAIL. 
Surprisingly, he also told me that his online account and case check tool are not showing him any updates in the case. They both stuck in old dates  
is this disorganized condition became a common practice by USCIS now, 

his original interview was April 7, and canceled 
the new interview date is on September 3 

 

please let us know if you have or experienced a similar issue

Any printed mail notice is offficial, forget the online system.

It’s really a concern. One can miss his or her appointment if not showing online and letter not delivered either because it was lost or sent to old address and not forwarded to new address by usps. Things happen. This is more reason why we should call USCIS at least a month after change of address to confirm current physical address on file.

Did you check both the old and the new site?

This was precisely my concern when he told me that; I am like wait a minute; they may have sent me a letter too, AND it might not have been lost.  

I will call them on Monday.

it is not my case, but what do mean by old  and new site . do they have 2 sites now.

It's been this way for a while.

The one which you called new site isn’t actually a new site. It’s been there to check case status since I came to United States. Recently, it seem there is problem hence it doesn’t update case status. I believe Op has been checking on it. Try checking on the first link which was called old site above

"Old site" and "new site" are just colloquialisms we use here on VJ. I have no idea how old or new they actually are, but generally speaking the "old site" tends to show more updates than the "new site."

Same thing happened to me. I received notice that my interview was rescheduled in the mail (around Aug 24), but then the online portal just updated to include my rescheduled interview today. It'll update in time, at least that has been my experience.
