You can earn money from anywhere in the world.  Where does it say it has to be US Based only?

The embassy wants to see that the income will continue once you move to the US. If your job is based outside of the US, then it's not good enough unless you have enough assets or you can continue your job in the US. Or you find a cosponsor.

The truth is that we cannot continue like this... This community is pro legal immigration and this administration is not.. Something needs to be done... December already seems like forever, God knows what this administration has in stock for us come 2021... At this stage anything can happen... We need change.

Why not file for the visa AND go to your fiance's country while waiting for the process? That way you're still getting some movement on the visa and you can see your partner too.

This is what we did, well to a 3rd country, and we were rewarded with a very quick timeline.

Few will take this path.  Most Americans won't do this.  Few have traveled the world in the last decades, except to select their wives.  I've traveled the world for work and my reality is there are very few places I wouldn't live, at least temporarily.

I work remotely and have been tinkering with the idea of moving to Mexico temporarily while we wait out this process. It's great your work allowed for that 😃 I could see it being difficult for those who have an office to report in to.

I was thinking you said the US person had to earn income from a US based company only. I think I was over thinking

Maybe. Where the company is based doesn't matter. The USC ability toboggan earn income while in the US is what matters for the affidavit of support.

I would say do what you think is best. There is no right or wrong...Spending time with your fiance in their country is awesome! and like someone said it would only strengthen your case in either choice. Good luck to you!

We're done waiting and are joining the legal action that's being taken. We're done waiting for this to happen on its own. It's obviously not going to happen before the end of January.

We are just about done gathering the documents for the UK visa application and I have my biometrics in 9/16. Let me tell you... this 👏🏻 was 👏🏻 not 👏🏻 easy 👏🏻

There are so many nuances to the application (specifically with the dates of your financial and accommodation evidence and the validity) and it is EXPENSIVE. So before you do this, really think about if this is what you want. We don’t regret it for a second because it’s gotten to a time vs. money issue for us as we are coming up on a year of applying for our K1, but the UK application process is not for the faint of heart.

Why isn't it? You can earn cash anywhere in the world you want. Just as long as either enough assets or income on your tax statement you are fine.

I get paid from companies outside the USA, No way USCIS say your can only earn from US Based companies only.

No one is stopping you from earning money anywhere you want. But the embassy wants to see a source of income that will continue when you're in the US. That's it.
