Do you and your fiance have any concerns about moving to the US during the pandemic?

My fiancée and I are concerned about our safety in the US. She is particularly concerned about the death rate and increasing amount of people who contract the disease, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried either. Her country has handled the situation much better and less people have it.

Do any of your fiances feel similar? Do they have any reservations coming to America at this time?

I'm in a tough spot. We decided it would probably be safest for me to move back to her country because of COVID and I do have a contract on the table, but yesterday I was offered a job here in America that's 7-12k more than the position in her country.

I'm not sure if the money is worth my safety and we'd be apart even longer. Surely we're not overreacting because of the virus and I assume you guys feel similar. Let me know how you guys have discussed this. Thanks.

Always take the money, an extra 12K will help with 2 people to support. And Image below reflects my feelings on the numbers

It's one of those things you have to risk assess. I feel particularly passionate about the issue being an ICU nurse and seeing firsthand of its devastating effects. That being said, I did still visit my husband in the month of June when rates were coming down nicely in the UK and in the US it was just climbing, I think, but very state dependent on numbers. Luckily where he lives (KY) they did very well in locking down on the situation ASAP to limit spread. (I think now numbers are climbing again). He also lives out in the country and it's not densely populated at all. My husband also lives alone and works from home for the most part. His mom, who is diabetic and very high risk lives up the road and I ensured that I would only visit after a quarantine period. With all that considered, I chose to visit. I also don't have any comorbidities although my ethnic background does put me at increased risk.

I think if you take into account where you will be going, how big of a risk it is to yourself, your partner and those around you, etc you can weigh out your options. This virus may be, and most likely will be here for a good while and we will have to adjust our "norms" to keep safe but I think we have to be realistic in the fact that we can't put our lives on hold forever.

When my visa comes through, I will personally be travelling again with precautions (as always). However, every situation is different. Don't let anyone tell your otherwise. Good luck in what you decide to do and keep safe!

I was a bit nervous flying from Australia to the US (six airports/four planes) with my three year old. First time we ever wore masks too - mainly as my fiance is high risk. We were totally fine though. Day to day life I am not worried at all and we wear masks everywhere but we live in the midwest and it isn't so bad here.

I am worried but I am much more worried about being apart from my fiancé during the pandemic 😢 He is a school teacher due to return to class in a couple of weeks. I am frightened for him and I am worried that he will get sick. I cannot bring myself to write out what I fear may happen.

I live in a country whose borders are closed with very few exceptions. They are not letting fiancé's into Australia even if you have your visa already and about a 2 year waiting list if we were to apply now. Moving to the US is the only way we can practically be together. As worried as I am about going to America it's just something I will have to do if I want to be with my fiancé (and I do).
