@MaureenH may I know who get you the interview date? Is it the embassy or nvc? I sent them an email and I was told to have medical first before they schedule the interview date. My daughter had her medical September 10th but unable to complete it because she has colds. She will come back after 7days

I received an email from the embassy about the date of interview that’s when I scheduled they’re medical and slec emailed the result to the embassy. It will be good if she is fully recovered with her cold especially with the situation going on. My sister who is the guardian of my kids also have cold so we waited for her to get better coz they we’re afraid that they will hold them and not let them in to the building.

If you need to do the medical I would try and have it done before August 30th.  August 31st is a holiday and on September 1st Manila could go back to a stricter quarantine which would close SLEC.  Thats not for sure, but I wouldnt take any chances in a country who is now seeing the virus "get out of control."

You can schedule the medical on the SLEC website.

Even under GCQ there is very limited transportation.  If Manila goes back to MGCQ or MECQ there may be none at all.

Hi can I ask what reason did u use to expedite ur case? Thanks

My reason is for my son missing school in the US.  I was working in Manila since 2010 and returned to the US in Jan this year, expecting my fiance would have her interview in April and here in the US by May.  The embassy sent the interview letter on Feb 24th but we didnt get it until Mid-March and by then it was too late for everything.

My son is not part of my fiance's K1 as he had a different mother, but I have full custody of him.  I asked for the expedite because he will not attend school in the PI and school has already started in the US.  It is remote learning (for the moment) so my reason to the Embassy was my fiance can help with the remote learning (he's 7) during the period she cannot work which by the time that occurs, we should have or be close to a vaccine starting to slowly normalize things.

I wrote the Embassy this past Monday and no reply which I kind of expected.  So Im sure my request is ignored :)  For now, my son will miss the 2020-21 school year so by end of Oct if nothing changes, I will go back to Manila and work from there for the foreseeable future.  Im in PA, so I have got some of the required teaching for the 2nd grade and will have my fiance help with this while we wait it out in Manila.

So that was my reasoning and appears rejected :)  My son has gone to school in the PI through 1st grade, but its not at the standards I want, and to pay for an international school such as ISM or BSM in Manila is $30-$35K a year which I can just bring him to the US for that.

You have nothing to lose by writing to them and asking for an expedite.  All they can do is ignore or reject.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

I guessed your right about that. Coz for me NVC just sent me a letter when they received my application from USCIS stating they will expedited the case coz my son is turning 18 this November and he needs to be here in the USA before that to acquire citizenship.. and they expedited both of them my daughter is 12 yrs old. And at this time the embassy operating with very few employees because of the pandemic. So they’re just doing interviews with special cases. Because my mom is still on hold at NVC and I applied for them at the same time and they got approved from USCIS and sent out to NVC at the same time but only the kids are expedited because of my son’s age.

Your mom's case is IR5, right?  That visa category is banned until end of 2020 (assuming the ban is not extended).  There will be no IR5 interviews at USEM until the ban is lifted.

Also, for those who missed the embassy's Sep 15th update, they resumed regular visa processing for IR1, IR2, CR1, CR2 categories.  But of course, expect delays as they'd have to go through the backlog of applications from when the embassy was closed.

In a few niche cases the visas are approved because the applicant meets a listed exception:

Quote

The suspension and limitation on entry pursuant to section 1 of this proclamation shall not apply to:

(i) any lawful permanent resident of the United States;

(ii) any alien seeking to enter the United States on an immigrant visa as a physician, nurse, or other healthcare professional; to perform medical research or other research intended to combat the spread of COVID-19; or to perform work essential to combating, recovering from, or otherwise alleviating the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak, as determined by the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or their respective designees; and any spouse and unmarried children under 21 years old of any such alien who are accompanying or following to join the alien;
(iii) any alien applying for a visa to enter the United States pursuant to the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program;

(iv) any alien who is the spouse of a United States citizen;

(v) any alien who is under 21 years old and is the child of a United States citizen, or who is a prospective adoptee seeking to enter the United States pursuant to the IR-4 or IH-4 visa classifications;

(vi) any alien whose entry would further important United States law enforcement objectives, as determined by the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or their respective designees, based on a recommendation of the Attorney General or his designee;

(vii) any member of the United States Armed Forces and any spouse and children of a member of the United States Armed Forces;

(viii) any alien seeking to enter the United States pursuant to a Special Immigrant Visa in the SI or SQ classification, subject to such conditions as the Secretary of State may impose, and any spouse and children of any such individual; or

(ix) any alien whose entry would be in the national interest, as determined by the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Homeland Security, or their respective designees.
