We received a messaged from  NVC that my sons case is already at the US embassy. What To do next? Do we need  to wait for the embassy to send us a letter for his medical or we just get our medical. NVC said it’s already ready... but Manila is under ECQ AT THIS TIME... HELP PLEASE....

Thread is moved from the K-3 Process forum to the Philippines regional forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Aside from NVC scheduling the interview for the embassy, the process is very similar to what you did for your K-1 visa.    Lockdown of course will put a kink in things

SLEC requires an appt for the medical, after that the process is straightforward.   Bring two copies of the NVC email/letter to SLEC the day of the medical:

@MaureenH my request to expedite 1R2 is approved today. The email says the embassy will schedule the appointment but may take couple weeks before they receive the document from NVC

I will allow 2 weeks before I call or email them. I'm not sure if I can schedule her for medical.

If you need to do the medical I would try and have it done before August 30th.  August 31st is a holiday and on September 1st Manila could go back to a stricter quarantine which would close SLEC.  Thats not for sure, but I wouldnt take any chances in a country who is now seeing the virus "get out of control."

You can schedule the medical on the SLEC website.

Even under GCQ there is very limited transportation.  If Manila goes back to MGCQ or MECQ there may be none at all.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

@flicks1998 can my daughter have her medical without interview letter?

We are at the same stage too. My daughter's case got expedited and received the same email. We're wondering too what's the next step to take? I've read in other forums that SLEC can perform medical by just showing them the NVC expedite letter and they will just let the applicant sign a waiver. But I'm not 100% sure. I'm only basing it on what I've read.

We are doing the medical without an interview letter since we cannot get an interview now.  The expedite letter from NVC should be ok. If you write or call to SLEC they will not write back and will not answer the phone. Best to book an appointment and bring your expedite letter.

You only need the NVC letter/email (embassy interview letter is optional .. if you have it) to complete the medical.

Medical is normally a 2 day process (not sure during this lockdown) planning accordingly if there are any holidays

@edizon1 nice, I'll try to schedule the medical then. Thank you all for your responses

Were you able to schedule the medical?  We had it done today (Monday).  I have heard the following:

  • Get there early so you can register.  It seems to be the first to register get to start earlier.
  • Fiance medical went until 3pm.
  • Was able to do all of the steps in one day (including vaccinations)
  • Was told they hardly even do the physical exam part.  Touched stomach, touched back, done.  She did have an x-ray, and pee'd in cup.  She mentioned compared to the medical exams done in the Philippines for employment, this was a waste of money at 17K but nothing can be done.
  • Received all papers, etc etc.  Now just hope can schedule interview within 6 months.

@flicks1998 I was able to schedule on September 10. I'm glad it goes well with you. Let me know if you get an interview date. I hope mine would be soon as they approved my expedite request. Goodluck to us.

Are you sure you cant get in there this week?  Even Friday?  They can do it in one day.  You have that expedited interview approved and Im not sure the decision on what Manila will do from September 1st, if they will go back to ECQ, MGCQ, MECQ, etc.  That would be my only concern.  If Manila continues the same restrictions into September as they have now, then your OK, but you dont want to have SLEC closed and your expedite interview date comes.

For us we are just waiting for the process to normalize.  I may try to put pressure for an interview when I get back in the country or wait a few more months and see how it goes.
