My comment was suggesting a course of action to another user in a pregnancy scenario who was asking if those cases are given special attention to which I replied that the only possibility is likely to file an expedite request given her question. The blunt rude reply of insinuating I am not more important because I am pregnant is unnecessary and not helpful and that’s obvious here. The question was never posed if we are more important given pregnancy but simply suggested that an expedite would be the only possible course of action to request in line with the users original question. I did acknowledge within this topic (different comment to the same user) that my lawyer has advised that an expedite in this scenario is indeed unlikely and my commentary was that it doesn’t hurt to try. In terms of importance I commented that in relation to equating a spousal visa to a k-1 scenario with kids. Visa journey has been a helpful place so far but it’s not kept peaceful with unnecessary rude remarks as that one. We are all going through difficult times in a pandemic and being respectful to each persons individual case is what keeps this site running smoothly.

You seem to think that requesting an expedite was what my comment was about.  No, just because you chose to have children doesnt mean your family is more important or even as important as an already married couple who don't or can't have more additions to the family. Yes a spouse, even in a childless or grown child family, is more important than a fiancé. That's just the long and short of it. Many people choose this path because of the benefits despite the longer path. I'm sorry that K1s are not also on the list for more immediate rescheduling. There are no expedites for pregnancy, you can try, but unless there was a high risk, even then moving to the USA wouldnt necessarily be an improvement considering the pandemic.  Im sure that is scary for you right now too. Best wishes for a safe pregnancy and quick resolution to your VJ.

Thanks for clarifying your post 👌🏼 I am the petitioner so I already live in the states- it’s my fiancé who is coming here. It’s a highly sensitive time right now for everyone not getting answers from immigration in the middle of a pandemic, I get it. No one wants to see someone on a forum say “I’m more special than you I deserve an expedite” and that’s what I was trying to clarify was NOT happening. In normal circumstances none of us would likely be waiting this long. There’s no real timeline anymore on anything. Given that, I believe it does fairly open the door to try for an expedite depending on your circumstances and how they impact you.  The way the current visa laws are written you are correct and it’s accurate to say a spouse is legally considered higher priority than a fiancé —even if the fiancés have children. But in terms of opinion (not law) we differ there from what you said in your post; that a couple with children who aren’t married are less important. Pregnancy is already difficult alone but in the middle of a pandemic it presents a bigger strain than usual which could categorically fall under one of the reasons for expedite eg) extreme financial hardship or other. Hence my suggestion to try for one to the other person In a similar situation to me (newborn child) inquiring if she so chooses. In a pandemic, life for everyone and immigration answers look vastly different; speaking personally, for a family with a baby on the way it is a great strain. With no real answers on timeline due to embassy closures, possible USCIS furloughs, companies shutting down and laying off employees by the thousands, knowing you need a steady job for when the interview comes to be approved, new jobs being scarce, money tight as a result and factoring in birthing the actual child and not qualifying for maternity leave, medical recovery, needing to take of a newborn without a partner to care for him/her so you can return to the job you hopefully don’t lose in 4 weeks to keep up with bills because you won’t be making money while physically recovering from child birth, so you can pass the interview and pay your bills — the list goes on. This is just my situation. I understand everyone has their own— but speaking from my own experience — this is why I believe pregnancy in a pandemic or any other similar situation whatever it may be has no harm at all in trying to expedite. Worst that happens is the government says no but I don’t believe it’s so black and white these days as it would be Pre-pandemic in normal processing. I appreciate your well wishes and same back to you on whatever your situation may be.
