Hey guys,

My wife and I have an approved I-130 petition for our IR1, and we're at the NVC stage uploading the required documents for I-864 affidavit of support, among other things.

To meet the income requirements, we're using a joint sponsor who is self employed and owns a business. We understand the basic income requirements of the 125% part.

We also understand that we have to provide the following documents along with the I-864 for the joint sponsor for evidence:

-Form 1040 Individual federal tax returns / transcripts + W2s (and/or 1099s).

-All related schedules for business profit/loss.

-A business license.

-Driver's License (proof of domicile).

-Birth Certificate (proof of status/citizenship).

My questions are:

1-Is there anything else that they require for the joint sponsor's proof of income?

2-Are we missing any other document in here?

We truly appreciate any helpful insight here as we don't want any missing document to cause us further delays.

Thank you.

For the self employed, current income documentation would be their 2019 tax return.  The total income line on the return or transcript will also be the number entered as "current income".  Note, this number is after business expenses have been deducted.

@pushbrk thank you very much!

Btw, are bank statements for the joint sponsor required at all? or ever seen it requested as evidence from someone in a similar situation?

I'm concerned that they will because the joint sponsor may not be willing to give it.

If income is clearly sufficient, there is no need to list assets.  Bank statements would only be used to document listed assets.
