Hi guys,

Thanks to Timsdaisy's advice I called the CSC and pretended to have an RFE so I could speak to an operator. The man was very nice and told me that all who were approved on May 3rd DID NOT get sent a NOA2 because of some computer glitch. They are sending me a copy free of charge, and thank God because I was going to have a serious hissy fit if I had to pay $200 for their mistake.

I then called the USCIS back and spoke to a supervisor to let them know. She hadn't heard a thing about it. I also told her that although the operators only know what is on the screen in front of them, it would be nice if they at least listened to what we have to say. It would be nice if they at least would look into it further, or SOMETHING, instead of just saying "tough shi*"

Hopefully they will be told to take us seriously and not assume we are idiots that can't keep track of our mail.

Thanks!

They tried to convince me that my case was still pending at CSC without an approval. That's why I didn't get my NOA2 yet. In fact, it's currently at my fiancee's consulate in Ukraine awaiting her August 14th interview. To USCIS, we're all stupid! :rolleyes:

Yes, you would think that word would get out. Hopefully their communication will improve. I also don't understand why, if they knew that May 3rd approvals didn't get NOA2's, they didn't just automatically send them out. Why wait for us to call in to ask about it?

That's awesome that you called back to inform them that we're on to them! I hope it works.

Of course, still no hard copy yet! Doh! I'm not sure if I should worry more about it because I'm not right now. It bugs me, and $200 will do more than bug me!.

It does seem a bit dumb that since they KNOW there's a problem they don't just sort it out.

Anyone else who calls, try asking them about whether a print out from online really suffices or not. THe CSC operator implied that it did, but no confirmation on that . . . .

I got my hard copy about 2 weeks after calling CSC. The e-mail of approval came 1 week after calling and the thingy was mailed and recieve a week after that. Hope you all get it soon! If I remember correctly, there were TONS of approvals that day (and even more from ppl like me who never were notified of approval) so maybe their approval push overwhelmed the system :lol:

I was also approved on 5/3 and didn’t receive my hardcopy NOA2. I tried calling customer service last week Friday and got the same response like most people. Send in $200 with the I something form. They even told me to speak to an immigration officer by making an infopass appointment.

I decided to wait a week and called the customer service number yesterday. I followed the RFE instructions and was able to speak to someone at CSC. I played dumb and told the person that I haven’t heard anything about my case. She looked it up and said that it was approved back on 5/3 and I should have received my NOA2. My case was also forwarded to NVC. She gave me the number to NVC to inquire with them. I explained that I still don’t have my hardcopy NOA2 and asked wouldn’t I need it for AOS. She finally let on that they were having computer problems at the time my case was approved and there seems to be a long “list” of people that didn’t receive their hardcopies. I asked her politely if I could be added to that “list.” She said she would and that I should receive my NOA2 in the mail.

A few hours later I went online to check my case status and it showed:

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On June 22, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

How hard is it for them to realize that there was a problem with their computer system and generate NOA2s for EVERYONE that was approved around that time?

Hmm, I think you answered your own question - they have incentive of $200 per person to not add people to the list.

I'm trying to find that instruction on how to call? I got an operator to get on the phone without having to say I have an RFE... is this a different operator? Please link that post or something for me and everyone else wondering how to call, or just explain it.

I usually called and press the option for petition that has been approved, then another, and then it tells me my status after putting my case number in, then it says something like 'to continue to the next step please wait' and then eventually I get an operator on the line. It is Option 1, 2, 3 then 2, 1, then case number, then option 1, then option 3. Is this the same?

Someone advised to follow the RFE prompts and we got someone who identified himself as being CSC, but I didn't do anything special aside from that, that I can think of (granted, I didn't jot down the EXACT keys I pressed).

Guess we'll just wait some more!

Thank you for your replies!

Well, we succeeded in getting to CSC after all. Howard spoke to a nice lady in Laguna Niguel, and of course she was surprised we never got our NOA2 as we were approved May 7. She said she was sending a duplicate. Yippee! I might not have it for my interview next week (hopefully they won't need to see it there), but we want to file AOS before the fee increase, so the sooner it comes, the better.

These are the prompts we used:

* 1 for English,

* 2 for main menu,

* 2 for reporting an issue,

* 4 for more evidence,

* then 2, 1,

* then entered our case number (with the WAC at the beginning, that is 922+10 digits).

* then it took us to a representative in the service center.

I followed the instructions from above and I was able to talk to a live person. I hope you have success!!!

Usually if you get through to Cali, they say California service center when you get a person on the phone. Did they say this to you? If not then follow the prompts for RFE and ignore prompts for approved petition. If you didnt hear them say California service center, you are speaking with the general call center who cant do anything and gives you the ####### about paying $200 for their mistake... However I got through to CSC using another set of options, however I can't remember what all I hit, so it is possible to speak with comeone from Cali without using the RFE trick. Good luck!

YAY! I called just now with those instructions and the woman was sooo polite, and immediately said "You did not get your approval notice right? I will have one resubmitted right away." Then I went to say my friends were the ones that informed me of this issue and to call, and she then said "You tell all the rest of your friends to call back the same you did so they can get their notice sent."

What was funny was when she said our computer systems are REALLY old. I lauged and wished her a great day. Thanks for the instructions!

USCIS finally did send my NOA2 hardcopy. In fact, they sent two copies that I received several days apart. What's the deal? Not that I mind that much, but they need to get their act together.
